Carnival alcohol policy

We are booked on a trip in January and we are wondering what the final word is on taking alcohol on board. Can you take wine? If so, how much? If I carry some clear alcohol on board in a water bottle, will I be discovered?

Thank you for your help.

Don't put it in your carry-on. Just put it in your checked luggage, and you'll be fine. You can carry on Wine that's okay, but liquor will be confiscated.

I've put alcohol in my checked luggage for years and have never had it confiscated yet.

I've always carried liquor on and never had it confiscated. That's why you have to put it in your checked luggage. I also keep it in the original container. I don't want my whiskey tasting like mouthwash.

How does checking your bags vs. carrying them on differ?

Do they search carry-ons?

Your carry ons go through an Xray machine like at the airport. I've carried on alcohol in a backpack before with no problems but you have much more of a chance of them seeing it in your carry on luggage.
With your checked baggage, when you arrive at the port, you give your luggage to a porter and they take it inside and you wont see it until later that evening. I always have alcohol in my checked luggage and have never had a problem. Dont mess with changing bottles or anything.

We too have put alcohol in our checked luggage. We only "hide" bottles that are made of plastic so whey won't break.

there's a new alcohol included package by the Cheers bar program (carnival) - your "Carnival all inclusive alcohol cruise" will cost you $49.40 a day, but: 1) no all Carnival ships are "all you can drink ships", 2) the Cheers package must be purchased for all days of the cruise, 3) must be purchased by all your roommates (older than 21). You can order alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic beverages, but each must be cheaper (as bar menu price) than $10. There are more specs on this program - like what drinks exactly it includes (and don't include), the package also can be purchased only on board and only the first 2 days, etc.:beach:

there are different opinions (and tricks) for smuggling alcohol on carnival cruises, but according to the Carnival alcohol policy your smuggled bottle(s)/cans will be confiscated until the last cruise day when they will return all of them to you - remember bottles/cans must have been sealed and also in original manufacturer containers. You're still allowed to bring 12 bottles or cans of soft drinks (each 20oz or smaller, must be sealed) in the carry on baggage. You also can bring 1 bottle of wine or champagne - 750 ml and it's per passenger (21 or older).

Rich, there will always be questions and answers about how to smuggle or get booze onboard,
and your right, the same questions asked 5 years ago are still being asked today, and right again,
same answers..............

Some get lucky, some don't
