Anyone here sail on Celebration?
Anyone sailing on Celebration 7/5/07?

Our 1st cruise is in 15 days =docdance:)P)and we decided to try to tour the Bahamas by ourselves. Is it easy to get around Freeport and Nassau?
I hear the underwater aquarium is pretty neat.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

It was back in 2000 that I sailed Celebration and I enjoyed her. We've done tours in Nassau on our own. We made a "deal" for an island tour and set the price before getting in with a taxi driver right as we left the port. I haven't been to Freeport.

I sailed on the Celebration on 6/2/07 and I have to say, had a great time. We went to Key West and Nassau out of Jacksonville. I was on my 8th Carnival cruise with a friend on her first cruise.

I have sailed the newer, bigger ships and after being on the Celebration, I have decided that it's a nice change of pace to sail on the smaller, older ships once in a while. I also didn't think I'd enjoy a short trip very much, but I did.

The ship is older and will be up for refurbishment soon, but all-in-all is in good order -- a little worn, but still really nice. We were on Main Deck just around from the Purser's Desk and were handy to elevators, etc. from there. The food was plentiful, good (a few things not to my liking, but there always is no matter what line or ship you are on).

You will have a great time on the Celebration. The staff was very friendly, efficient and willing to help any way they can. I kind of expected the not-so-experienced crew members and less-than-great entertainment because of the age and size of the ship, but it was truly a great vacation getaway!

Have fun!

Celebration is our second-favorite ship (Elation just edges her out of first place). We loved the crew especially. They all seemed to actually enjoy being there to take care of us, and we made long-term friends with one of them who has now gone home to China. I think this is largely due to how the Captain treats them, and I say Bravo to the Captain and crew of the Celebration.

Nassau was great! We did a bus tour of the historical highlights, and enjoyed meeting some of the locals as well. The straw market was OK, not great. We ate some fresh conch salad from a street vendor near the cruise terminal. It was honestly the best food we have ever had in a port of call! Look for Miss Sherry in the white mini-van at the corner of the fence just outside of the terminal building. Tell her Don and Angie from Louisiana said hi! And be sure to try her conch salad and guava duff! (Ask her for some HOT sauce!)

Forget to add... Jacksonville was the absolute easiest embarkation and debarkation port we could have ever imagined!! They really have it organized perfectly! No long waits, friendly and knowledgeable personnel, and the parking was just a few yards away from the front door.
