Carnival Conquest Cabins

I asked on a previous post about the dangers of booking an Inside Guarantee cabin on the Conquest. One response said to check the layout and figure out where the absolute worst cabin is and be sure we are ok with that....but I am so green, I don't have a clue-the only thing I know we can't handle is a cabin with an upper & lower berth only (I am a little large for bunk beds). I know what we'd choose if money wasn't a factor, but the budget is a real consideration for us. So I am wondering if someone who has the experience would know if there is a particular cabin or area, that is recommended as somewhere we just really don't want to go!

We are going to make a decision and get the trip booked next week, so any help or suggestions will be appreciated (as is all the info on the various forums).

If you book a 4A guarantee, then you will not get a bunk bed (those cabins are 1A). Being inside, it really does not matter that much were on the ship you end up. Once you close the door, all the inside cabins look the same.

Nonetheless, there are some places that are less desirable. All the way forward or all the way back will have more movement than mid ship. Being under or over the disco might not be desirable, unless you are the last one being kicked out of the disco when it closes. Being just below the lido deck (the pool deck) can mean you are going to be an early riser, as the deck hands drag the deck chairs over the deck (which is your ceiling).

The bottom line, when you have an inside cabin, you don't spend that much time in the cabin - awake.

I would say on the lower decks if you are in the aft of the ship you will get quite a bit of noise when the ship is docking. It wasn't to bad but there was noise. I have had inside cabins on 2 cruises and don't mind at all. Like mentioned above you go to the cabin to sleep,,shower and change cloths.
The Conquest was a beautiful ship. I really enjoyed it.

I booked a 4A Guarantee room and ended up getting a 6B Ocean View Room w/obstructed view. 2nd floor AFT. So I guess I'll be getting alot of noise. No problem, we won't be in there much and should be a good alarm clock in the morning. Hopefully it's still a good room. Conquest Rm. #2449.

Thanks - we ended up booking a Oceanview Gurantee for our first cruise, way off in November 2008. As you say, it doesn't seem many comment on the Conquest out of Galveston, but I'd love to hear how your trip goes, and receive any tips. This will be our first, too, so we'll be among the "greenest" on board!
