Anyone out there booked on the 09/21/2009 inaugural (maiden) cruise of the Carnival Dream out of Civitevecchia (Rome) Italy?? Back in 1991 the family was on the Norweigan Dream during its inaugural cruise year, but this is the first time ever being on a ship's first paying cruise - should be a different experience!! Even though the cruise leaves th 21st, we (the wife and I) are flying out of Philadelphia PA on the 19th and staying overnight in Civitavecchia on the 20th prior to the cruise. We are also staying two nights in Rome on return - it's going to be a busy almost three weeks - I'm going to have to go back to work to relax!!!

No, I won't be on there, but I do hope you have fun.

Yeah, you may be severely exhausted from your vacation!:thumb

I won't be on that cruise, but will be on the Oct 15th Carnival Dream sailing and then the Oct 27 Transatlantic.

Links are in my signature (I think) that will let you see what we end up doing!

I wouldn't expect a huge fanfare and probably some parts of the ship may not be completely finished, but you are correct - you will be on the first revenue sailing! Congratulations.

What else? I think the naming ceremony is going to be in New York, but not positive. There will be a book in your cabin on the ship, full of ads, of course, and they usually make a gift of it to you.

Enjoy your cruise!

Maybe we'll see you on board Ed. My wife and I will be on the maiden voyage of the "Dream on 9/21 and we are really looking forward to this cruise. This trip will mark our 10th anniversary, our 10th cruise and my wife's B'day. I wonder if there will be any special celebrations for this sailing? We are also going to spend a couple of days in Rome before we sail so this is shaping up to be quite an adventure. However I am not looking forward to the flight. Flying across the ocean scares me to death.

Happy Sailing

Michael
