We're cruising on Carnival's Glory in February 09. Any tips you can offer on dining or anything else on the ship?

Thanks, Michael! I'm new to this site, so I didn't know where to look!

Re: Carnival Glory -- any tips for onboard? Restaurants?

I have cruised on the Glory twice, my last one in April and I was surprised at how good the service has improved since we sailed on her in 05. It seemed on the larger ships that the service wasn't as personal as it was on the smaller ships evident by how much busier they seemed, but we didn't notice that the last time and really enjoyed the cruise. We had a reservation in the reservation only restaurant but the food was very good in the main dining room as well as the service so we canceled. If you are into coffee I would suggest the cafe on the promenade deck, there is also a sushi bar that will open in the evening that is also good. There is a seafood restaurant on the second level of the lido restaurant, we never even realized it was there on the first cruise so if you are like seafood it is worth checking out. Hope that helps..

I havn't booked one yet,(thinking Feb 09) but was considering trying the Glory as it is a Conquest Ship. (And it's at Port Canaveral only 15 minutes from home) I just read the three reviews, including the REALLY long one. After my eyes stopped burning, I almost thought I was aboard her. :lol

I have sailed the Valor when she first came out. Now seeing that the Valor and Glory are both Conquest Ships can I assume they are the same layout? I expect names and colors of areas to be different, but would the general layout and sizes be the same?

Bajav...I have been on both the Glory and the Valor. They are identical ships...only the decor and names are different. I had a great time on both ships but I think the Valor was a little better. To date it has been my favorite cruise. The food, service... everything was awesome! Lucky you to live so close to a cruise port! I live in California so I have to have the added expense of flying out to Florida for our cruises. Have fun on whatever ship you end up sailing on!

I have sailed the Glory and will be on her again with a group Feb. 7, 2009. I would suggest the supper club one night. It is well worth the surcharge. The food in the dining room is very good to.

I'm on the Valor in March. I sailed the Conquest during hurricane Dennis. I watched the hurricane hit my house via CNN while aboard the ship. The seas were 12 feet but it really wasn't that bad. I got some pretty woosey looking video by placing my camera on the ship's rail though. ;)

Something a lot of people don't realize is that room service is free aboard Carnival so you should never ever be hungry, even if you're too lazy to belly up to one of the restaurants. :D

Can't wait!

We sailed the Glory last June and had the best wait staff that I've had in 8 cruises! Our room steward was very good, but on the quiet side. At the end of the cruise, the waiters and steward asked us to please check "exceeded expectations" on our survey card if we thought they had earned it. Those surveys mean the world to these workers so make sure you fill it out.

We always get a late night cheeseburger and fries as they are the absolute best and I sooo look forward to them! Also, remember that there is a fish and chips place on deck 10 in the Lido. A lot of people don't even know it is up there, and it is also a quieter place to sit and eat when the tables are full below. They also put out chocolate melting cakes at the late night buffet; my ds would eat one in the dining room and then later get one at the buffet. This is the only time I let my kids eat "junk" so they definitely enjoy it!

Make sure you get involved; the trivia games and such are a lot of fun.

I will be going on the Glory in May. Thank you for all the info. My husband will be so glad to hear about the sushi.
