Carnival in New York

Something has been bugging me for some time...

How come the world's largest cruise line only positions 2 ships in New York City for 6 months in the summer? Many other cruise lines are based here year-round. Other lines even position 4 or 5 cruise ships in New York. Cruise Lines such as Royal Caribbean and Princess have many different caribbean itinaries to choose from which alternate slightly every year...

So why can't Carnival position more ships in New York City, or at least offer different caribbean itinaries... or, as much as I LOVED the Legend, sail up a different ship each year? Does anyone else agree with me on this?

I agree with you. Carnival offers superb military discounts but we're going on the Legend for the 2nd time this year...exact same itinerary. Sure would love to try a different ship and itinerary out of NY!

Wow... as much as I love cruising I don't think I would be able to do the exact same itinerary and ship only 3 months apart... but that is my point, Carnival needs to add some variety to New York City!!!

Well apparently I spoke to soon because Carnival is swapping ships. The Miracle will now take the Legend's place in New York starting next year... I was at least hoping for some itinararies some I am not really a fan of this!

It was fun going on the Legend again so soon since we didn't have to spend hours learning where everything was. We also didn't mind the same ports again since there's so much to see and do that we didn't repeat anything. We'll be going on the Legend again in Feb but this time will be out of Ft Lauderdale with stops in Belize, Costa Rica and Panama...all new ports to us. Sure wish Celebrity, Princess or Carnival would sail out of NY in the winter to save airfare!

I'm glad they decided to, since I'll be traveling next October on it. Especially after all the great things I've heard about the Miracle.
