Few questions; I went all spontanous (spelling I know I know) and bought a cruise for my myself and wife...didnt do much research; and now I might be regretting it.

We are leaving from Tampa May 11th and doing Cozmel, Grand Caymen, Belize, Honduras

Anyone have any tips...about the ports and excursions, and the ship of course...

I'm 26 and my wife is 22...thanks a bunch for the help...

I went on the Legend in 2006 and the ship is STUNNING! I have been to Grand Cayman and Cozumel and both are nice islands.

Do keep in mind that Cozumel was hit by a hurricane not too long ago and it might not look as nice as what you expected.

You WONT regret taking this cruise, you will love it!

Hope that helps :)

We've been back to Cozumel three times since Wilma went through. Downtown is definately back to normal. Some of the outside of town areas are still showing some signs of Wilma but hardly any at all. Puerta Maya was still closed last time we were there although tenders were docking there to drop people off. International Pier is still under construction but could dock one ship. Punta Langosta Pier is open and can dock two ships.

Wilma tore up the beautiful coral pretty badly but it gets better and better every time we go back. Saw lots of new coral growth the last two times.

Why do you think you're regretting it Chris?

Mbandy, just to let you know, we were docked at International Pier last month and they docked 2 ships there.

Well my wife and I have travelled a few times in the past (London, and Paris) and going somewhere warm/on a boat for such a lengthy amount of time has kinda put me back; but after reading so many reviews and the great welcome here I'm starting to feel so much more comfortable.

Actually did a little research on StingRay Island...WOW...amazing...nerve racking; but amazing :)

Thanks a bunch for the great welcome; and of course all the helpful links.

Also; one last question for anyone who has had the pleasure of sailing the Legend...and it's a weird one.

I'm 26; but still love video games; I read that this cruise has an arcade (Gigabytes...nice name...lol)...is that free; or is there a one time charge for it?

Thanks; sorry for the weird question(s).

Chris

The video arcade is quarters based just like shore side arcades unfortunately.

Welcome to the board. Just remember, like any trip or adventure it is what you make it. So go with the attitude that you will have the time of your life and you will. I haven't been on a bad cruise yet. If you enjoy beaches, try Paradise Beach in Cozumel. Of course we were there pre Wilma, but I have read and seen pictures that it's pretty much back in great shape again. They had great food and drinks, there was para sailing near by, not on that section of the beach but an easy walk up the beach. The service was great. I would assume that PB Tom still runs the place. We didn't get to meet him when we were there as he was tied up away from the beach that day.

Post often, Ask all the questions you want and be sure to let us know how your cruise was.

Glad top hear International Pier is able to take another ship now. There were still huge holes in it when we were there a year and a half ago. We docked at Punta Langosta on our last trip there and it was fully operational.

Cash question...

My wife and I fully expect to purchase our excursions BEFORE we make it to the ship...via all the good sites/links everyone has posted.

So my question is; how much cash should my wife and I bring. I'm a gambler...not a high roller; but I do play some black jack; and neither my wife or I drink....so that will save a ton...lol

But round about figure; how much spending money is a good figure to take?

As always; thanks!

I guess it depends on how much you budget for gambling.

Your wife may want to shop? The prices are supposedly excellent and the lack of tax helps. I'm not much for that so I'm not sure.

I budgeted $100 a day for gambling, probably only used $50 a day. Some of the shore excursions are food and drink included, I know that Isla Passion has a great open buffet and an open bar. So you may just want to take enough money to do some tipping there or buy a T-Shirt. It's really hard to tell someone how much money they will be spending.

My first 5 day cruise I took $1000 dollars and that paid for everthing, gas and hotel included.

The last 7 day I took I probably spent well over $1500, and we don't drink either....

My husband and I was on the Legend last September and did the same ports. We loved Cozumel and Belize. Grand Caymans was nice but we thought alittle on the expensive side. In Roaton we did a beach day and the beach was wonderful. Do not expect to do much shopping there because there is not a whole lot. The shops are in lean to's and shacks. But the price for t-shirts was $5.00 which was a steal compared to $20.00 or more in the Grand Caymans.
The ship is wonderful. We had great food and wonderful service. Our dining room waiters were the best and if they seen you at breakfast or lunch upstairs they were not long taking care of you and remembering what you like.
Have a great trip.
