Carnival Legend to Tortola/Virgin Gorda

This question is for Carnival Legend cruisers who have recently spent time in Tortola/Virgin Gorda. We are in port from 7am to 2 pm. What time can we expect to be off the ship? Is there adequate time to take the ferry over to Virgin Gorda to visit The Baths? ...and make it back in time before departure? What time did you have to be back on the ship for sailaway?

LorrieD,

I am going on the Legend August 1st out of NY and was wondering the same thing.

I visited Carnival's home page and found that they do indeed offer a tour to VG and a visit to the Baths. In the tour description it says the tour takes 4 hours.

Here is Carnival's Shore Tours link that will hopefully help out.

It doesn't seem like much time for an excursion - I would definitely sign up for the ship's excursion to Virgin Gorda if it is available. This is an excursion that was booked full before I could sign up for it, so I would recommend booking it asap.

almost impossible unless you rent a boat yourself and fly there and back. The charters won't be able to accomodate you-

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I have since found out the cost of the Carnival sponsored excursion ($65pp). The ship stops at Virgin Gorda first, dropping off those folks, before continuing on to Tortola. We're going to pass this time, because of the expense (x5). A co-worker has suggested a wonderful way for us to spend our time in Tortola.

Debbie, I'd love to hear what you did while in Tortola/Virgin Gorda port. Thanks! Hope you had a wonderful trip!

When we were in Tortola, we hired a taxi/van with two other couples and spent a few hours snorkeling at Smugglers Cove. The trip up over the mountain is scenic and the cove was beautiful. We met some locals on the beach who were very friendly. There's not a lot in Tortola, but we enjoyed our time there.

Hi

My husband and I were in Tortola 1997 when Carnival first put it on their itinerary... We took a cab to the beach and believe me the cab ride was better than any amusement park ride... they drive fast and your basically on the side of a mountain going around these winding curves on a road thats barely 1 1/2 car widths and the driver blows his horn while going around the corner so the guy coming the opposite way will stop....pretty scary but it was fun.. the beach at that time had one small open air restaurant and a table set up with island stuff they were selling.. My husband still talks about Tortola - he loved it

Have fun!!
