Carnival Legend

Hi everyone...

Was curious if anyone recently off the Legend could provide some input.

We went on her in 08 and loved this ship. We had such a fantastic time and thought she looked great.

I have seen in quite a few recent posts that people are stating she is past her prime, showing her age and not looking as good.

I was curious if in 2 yrs, she had degraded this much?? I rebooked her for an October 9th sail and am hoping she is the same as I remember her.

Also, I know she is going into drydock in a week or so. Does anyone know what will be done during this time??

Carnival Legend will be going into dry dock for 2 weeks very soon (within the next week), so I don't think you have to worry. If the ship WAS in disrepair, it will be clean and spiffy after her 2 weeks of tlc. ;)

ETA - Oops! Didn't see your last sentence. I hear that they will be replacing carpets, bedding, chairs in the MDR, installing flat screens, doing some paint, and the general ship maintenance that can't be done while the ship is in motion.

In any case, I sail on the Legend this April, so I can report back and let you know.

A group of us are also cruising the Legend beginning Feb. 20. If found the items below in a post on the Carnival forums. In addition to the features being added below, the word is that--because we are the first cruise since dry dock--we'll be able to go to our cabins as soon as we arrive at the ship. Usually, you have to wait for two to four hours while they clean from the last cruise.

:doubleup:Here's the word from Carnival on what they've done to the ship:

• Stateroom TVs being replaced with flat screen LCDs
• New Serenity area being added – Located in the former aft pool area, it is an area for adults featuring pool, whirlpool and full bar
• Kids Pool Area – More colorful, playful design for floor and pool tiles; Addition of teak benches and plush outdoor toys
• Lido Pool Area – Retiling pools, new whirlpools, new look for area including bars
• Casino – Reconfiguration of layout for slot machines & poker tables
• Dance Club – Removing TV wall, replacing furniture and fabrics (photos of the old dance club showed tacky decor; will be fun to see the change)
• Lido Restaurant – Replacing chairs (inside and outside) and carpet
• Dining Room – Replacing chairs
• Replace gym equipment

Carnival Legend re-entered service after dry dock on 2/20. She is currently on her first voyage after the refurb so hopefully we'll see a review soon.

WE sailed on her last May and are going again this May, a new TV would be a good thing since If i remember correctly that was the only thing that wasn't perfect last year.
54 days and counting.

Sailed on Legend last September and is one of our favorite ships. Things get old and worn after a few years. Refurbishing will make the ship look great again.
