Hey Everybody,

I am sailing on the Carnival Miracle in September and I was wondering if anyone has been on it recently? If so, tell me anything you would like.

Thanks :)

We'll be on her too in September. What day are you going? Never been on her, but you'll love the Spirit class ship!

We'll be on the Miracle in August, but we've done this itinerary twice before on the Carnival Legend, which is a sister ship. Ive included a link to my review, and what I have written is applicable to the Miracle.

The Miracle is a beautiful ship and I have a saying... You just can't go wrong with a Spirit Class ship!

Jetblue, you are going to LOVE Explorer too! We went on Voyager, her sister ship, twice and the Voyager and Spirit class ships are my absolute favorite!

Karry, from what I am reading people love the Explorer as much as they loved the Legend when I read reviews about that ship before boarding. I just got back from the Navigator and very impressed on how RCI ran their ships, never really felt like there were 3000+ people onboard.

Jetblue, we "usually" cruise CCL now because we have been on so many of her ships that it is kind of like going home again :) And DH gets the military discount, we are platinum and they do our laundry and treat us like royalty. We always get an aft wraparound balcony and the price is so right. We really love the Spirit class. BUT, I really have to say that Voyager was probably my favorite ship. I loved the Royal Promenade, the elegant dining rooms, everything about it. My DS and his DW went on VOS with us and went on Explorer for their honeymoon and said they're the mirror image of each other. Maybe "one of these" days we'll go back on RCI. I am sure you will have a great cruise!

I love the spirit class ships. We will go on the Spirit next as it is coming to Miami soon. You cannot go wrong with any of them!

Just booked our winter 2009 cruise last night. We are double stacked on the Miracle! When is the Spirit going to FL?? DH booked the same San Diego to MR cruise for next January, then we decided to switch to Miracle/FL because we have done that 2 years in a row. I thought Pride and Spirit were out of CA and Miracle/Legend (Spirit class) were out of FL.

HAHA Karry you are too much, I knew you would book another one soon. Please take me with you? :(

The Pride is being repositioned to Miami next year as the Splendor will take its place in Long Beach. The Spirit is currently staying put

Jetblue, this was a really tough decision :lol We really LOVE San Diego and the Spirit. Loved watching our Giants win the Super Bowl at a decent hour and didn't have to cook, clean up or get up for work the next morning either :thumb So DH said what the heck and booked the same cruise for 2009 Super Bowl. But....we flew out 3 days before cruise and stayed 2 days after. We really did a ton of things and we might get out there and think what are we doing here. Except for Zihua, the ports are getting kind of "old" and it's a bigger expense flying to CA and staying, eating meals out and all that. I did a LOT of research. We wanted a Spirit class ship because we book aft wraparound balconies and they are the only ships that have the seperate rooms which we like (and are used to! :) ) I don't really "care" where we go as long as it's a nice ship and it doesn't go to Limon and those places. Not interested. We also like to have the 2 sea days down, ports, then 2 sea days back. SO....our only real option was the Miracle S. Caribbean. Even tho we are on her in September out of NY (we live right here) we thought it would be a nice cruise. Never been to St. Lucia. DH called Carnival and lo and behold, they had "our cabin" that we have been in 3x on the Spirit available on the 2/9/09 Miracle cruise. So that was kind of a "little sign." So...now you know why we made that decision (and if you cared! :gabby :yawn :blah )

:lol Okay, that's it...I get the heeby jeebies when I am not double stacked. When we get back from our Miracle 9/22/08 cruise I am just going to HAVE to go thru all this research again so I can add another cruise to our countdown, big groan, deep sigh...we'll just have to figure out a cruise we can meet up on :) I LOVE San Diego, but there is NOTHING IN THE WORLD like cruising out of Manhattan, right in my back yard. :thumb I still can't believe we are booked on a ship we have never been on twice, but I have never had a bad cruise (except NCL Dawn which was poopy! (td) )

Oh I love that Manhattan sailaway. I'm kind of disappointed that the Explorer docks in Bayonne because we are going to miss a lot of the scenery! Just curious what you didn't like about NCL. I try to tell my dad about all the bad reviews from NCL but he doesn't like to listen.

Yea, there is NOTHING like going out of Manhattan. I have so many pictures of the Twin Towers when we sailed out years ago. :angel. Used to be able to see the tops of the towers in our back yard too. :(
We were kind of "recruited" to go on NCL Dawn a few years ago out of Manhattan. I think we went in Feb. (out of NY!!) Friends of ours were looking for a vacation home in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area and that was the lst stop. DH and I continually REFUSED to go, but they kept hounding us...so DH shows up at my office one day with the cruise docs :sniper Anyway, it was the whole schmeal. The "whole family" went and we are close to them, BUT, felt kind of out of place and "duped" into looking at condos when we should have been having fun. But NCL...we just don't like the free style dining, the long lines, the food, the whole thing just didn't sit well...kind of like just going out to dinner on a busy Fri and Sat night at home. We really enjoy getting "dressed up" for our dinner meals,(DH is a cop, I'm an Orthopedic nurse, so we/I mostly really enjoy wearing fancy clothes since we wear uniforms to work) enjoy getting to know our servers, going to the same table, all that stuff. We're not snobby people at all. We enjoy "the help" and getting to know them. On Spirit, I became best buds with our cabin steward!!! I was on our balcony with binocs looking at dolphins jumping when he came in to clean and I grabbed him to come out and look and see...I really ENJOY meeting new people, hearing about and sharing their lives...hard to explain...and on NCL we didn't get that. It was just so "impersonal." Food sucked, truth be told, and I am not "picky" about that either. If I don't have to shop for it, cook it, or clean up after it, I am a :) camper. But it was just...standing in line and waiting to be seated and served in a restaurant that I wouldn't think of going to at home. This is just MY OPINION. I enjoy the whole cruise experience. LOVE everything about it. I get...hmmmm....a feeling of "going home" on Carnival. We really LOVE those ships!! And just didn't feel that way on NCL Dawn. Matter of fact, on this Spirit cruise, our cabin steward told us he wished we could stay cuz he was going to miss us!!! It was the only cruise (Dawn) we got off and were honestly happy to be home. We went on Dawn CTN and NCL Spirit CTN also a few years later because we had "parties" on the ships. We live very close to the terminal in Manhattan so it is a no brainer. That was okay. But for a week's cruise...no thank you. Again, just our preference. Have been on Princess also, nice ships, LOVED RCI VOS and Empress....but...CCL...we just love that line....when you find something that works for you...:thumb We are platinum, VIP on CCL and they all but kiss our feet when we board. We get free laundry wash, dry and fold, all the extras, and the price is so right. DH gets military discount. We got an aft wraparound balcony cabin a few cruises ago and can't ever ever go back :lol DH said CCL was talking about upgrading us to a suite in Sept. I said NO WAY. I am spoiled enough as it is! Spirit wrap aft balconies have different rooms and we love that. Which is why we have to book Spirit class as the above yawner explained! You will really love the Explorer. We loved the Voyager (sister ship) Would go on it again in a heartbeat, but the $$ and perks vs. CCL just don't make it worthwhile. 2 of our "most favorite cruises" were on VOS. Brooklyn terminal is different. You take a shuttle to the ship. Strict drop off and pick up, very small areas, so be careful. When we dropped off/picked up our DS and his DW from their honeymoon we had a terrible time parking there, but DH just flashed his badge =shrug Sorry to chew your ear off (and anyone else following this thread!) I know you'll have a GREAT cruise and can't wait to hear all about it!

Haha thanks for the book Karry :lol It's really interesting because I hear the same exact words from other people who gone on NCL. Seems like the quality of an NCL cruise is just far inferior than any other cruise line. I've also heard a lot that NCL constantly has their hands in your pockets, especially with the dining situation. Always interesting to hear another perspective. Thanks for the info! And trust me, after this winter I'm looking forward to the Explorer like you can't believe!

Karry & Jetblue!! I think we all must be related somehow, as our tastes in cruising are pretty much identical. I'm completely at home on Carnival, with only two more cruises before we hit the milestone 25th. However, our cruise last August on the Explorer of the Seas ranks right up there as one of the best we've ever taken. We loved our JS, (#9580). We will now sprinkle in an RCI cruise every once in a while, in fact we are going to book the Liberty of the Seas for August 2009 as soon as the bookings open up. Being from Jersey, leaving from Bayonne was a breeze. I did miss cruising down the Hudson, but we've done it so many times before, and will in the future, that I was ok with it.
