I would like any helpful hints concerning being aboard the Carnival Paradise, what not to miss, what to avoid, where to eat, shore excursions that are great, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

The Paradise is a beautiful ship. There are many options for lounges on the Paradise. Most of the lounges will be on Deck 7 and along the Carnival Boulevard. Most the lounges do not get going until late afternoon or early evening. While in ports the bars that are open will be the Atrium bar the bar in the back of the buffet and the pool bar.

Seeing you are doing the Western Caribbean which has so many stops during the day your dining will be limited on port days to the buffet, pizza and the hot dog and hamburger grill on deck 10 if you eat onboard. Of course there is room service. The dining rooms will be open for breakfast but only open for lunch on specific days and in a specific dining room.

The Normandie Show Lounge has many pillars so if you want a good seat for a show go at least 20 minutes early to get a seat for the shows. You will have to sit through one Bingo game most nights but at least you will have an unobstructed view of the shows.

The Casino does get busy at night. There are quite a few slot machines but not a wide variety of slot games. There are quite a few gaming tables.

The lounges that cater to the later crowd that are more active are the Rex and the piano Bar The America Bar. The United States Bar is near the Casino and right in the Boulevard and does have a singer at night. The Queen Mary Lounge has the late night adult comic and does have music and dancing earlier in the evening. The Queen Mary Lounge also has the art auctions during the day.

In the evening there will be many areas to get your picture taken if you wish.

If you go into the ports you will always leave on deck 3 and the lines can get long when they first start letting people off.

I hope this helps with the ship information.

If you like classic 50's, 60's, and 70's music, don't miss "The Highlights" in the Queen Mary lounge all the way aft every night starting at 9:00 PM. If your taste runs to classical, "The Sonore Trio" is absolutely wonderful and play in both the atrium and in the Cafe Ile de France on the boulevard.
