Carnival Paradise

I've been reading through all the topics and e-mails and I haven't seen any mention of Carnival Paradise. Has anyone had any experience, or heard of anything, as regards Paradise? If so, any thoughts on this cruise (haven't booked it yet - just reserved)

Thanks.

The Paradise usually gets the highest reviews among Carnival's fleet. Having cruised Carnival 4 times, she is certainly at the top of my list. The atmosphere and passenger complement are somewhat atypical of most Carnival ships. The smoke free requirement seems to attract a more mature, less rowdy type of passenger. I think you will love the ship!

Thank you so much for that feedback. This is my first cruise and we got cheaper tickets for the Paradise excursion compared to Inspiration. So we thought we'd go with Paradise since smoking isn't an issue for us.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Read an article that send non-smokers also tend to be non-drinkers and non-gamblers. This is why there is only one smoke free ship. It is enough to accomodate those who would not cruise otherwise. There is not as much revenue on the Paradise.

We sailed on the Paradise in 1999 and really enjoyed the non-smoking atmosphere. On March 30th, we will be sailing on her again. We are still hearing good things about the ship from recent Paradise cruisers.

CMan,
I'm not going until August 24th - so you will definately experience the cruise before me. Please do tell me what you thought about it. Also, any helpful hints on things to do at the ports of call would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Happy sailing!

I will be sailing the Paradise on May 4, and will submit a review to most of the major cruise outlets. I have heard and seen many reviews on this ship and all have been good. I am looking forward to a great cruise and I am sure you will have a grand time.

CMAN and zina, my husband and I will be on the Paradise for the 5/11 and 5/18 cruises. Today I spoke with my cruise agent at Expedia concerning the fact that the cruise prices have been dropping. He spoke with Carnival and had our 4C assigned midship inside cabin upgraded to a 6B assigned midship OUTSIDE cabin. We are very happy with that. I am always looking for information on any of the ports that we will be visiting. Also, we haven't booked our pre-cruise hotel yet, so any advice would be appreciated. Less than 7 weeks to go!!!

PeggySand, I got the Sheraton Biscayne Bay hotel for May 17 on Priceline for $40.00. Supposed to be a very nice property , with a view of the Port of Miami (if you ask at check in), and Carnival uses the hotel for their pre and post cruise add-ons, so there's a real possibility that we will be able to check in for the cruise right in the hotel lobby!!! It's a short cab fare to the Port - $7.00, I think.

If you're looking for a hotel close to the Port, for this price, you really can't go wrong w/Priceline!!!!

PS - we've got upgraded to a 6C outside midship cabin - nice!!!!!

Dreaming of Belize.............

We already got a $212.00 pp drop in price about 2 -3 weeks ago. We also live in Plantation which is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. If I can help you with hotel locations and prices I'll try, just let me know.

We are already in a 6C category midship.

We sailed the Paradise last year and loved her. Can't wait to sail her again. I think the previous comments are correct that the crowd is a bit more mature and health-conscious. The crew were extrtemely friendly, the ship was clean and the decor was pleasant. There was a great 3-piece classical trio that played in the atrium. I think they were from Sweden. THe shows were very good, and the food and service were excellent. Have a great time. The Paradise is one of the great cruise values.

Soapbxking;

Let me know if you have to tender in at Belize. I read elsewhere that there may be a new dock now.

Thinking about doing Reggie's Cave tubing, but want to know if we need early tender passes.

Thanks, and have a great time.

I will be sailing on the April 20th, 2003 Paradise Cruise. ( soon!!! ) My girlfriend and I are looking forward to it and have heard nothing but good reviews. I have not been able to find many pictures of the ship so I plan on taking many pics and vids and eventually posting them on a site. I've purchesed a new digital video camera just for this purpose. Once I return I'll post where the site is. bye.

I've sailed on the Paradise twice. Both the Western and Eastern Caribbean itineraries. It's a beautiful ship. I would not recommend the ship unless you're a non-smoker. They enforce the non-smoking policy by putting you off the ship!
