Carnival Pride - Mexican Riviera

We are looking to book the Carnival Pride for the Mexican Riviera in June 2008. We sailed the Pride in its first year when it was on the east coast, and liked the ship. We will be traveling from PA and prefer to book our own flight so that we can get a direct flight with no transfers. The flight we plan to book will get in LA around 8:00 PM CA time. Is it true that the Pride leaves from Long Beach and not the Port of LA? Since we will be arriving the evening before, we don't plan to do any real sightseeing. Every time we cruise, we just like to get there the day before to avoid hassles with luggage, flight delays, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice hotel that's not terribly expensive and also provides transportation to the pier? Thanks!

(I also posted this same message on the Ports of Call list.)

Yes, the Carnival Pride leaves from Long Beach and not San Pedro ...

Two good choices are the Queen Mary (which is right next door - no transportation provided, since both ships use the same parking lot) and the Coast Hotel, which is where the green arrow is in the photo below ...

=yeah If you stay at the Queen Mary, you can check in for your cruise on board the Queen Mary. They will even transfer your bags from the hotel to the ship, give you a discount pass for the tour. So you can get up, check in for your cruise and check your bags then take the tour. By then it will be time to head for the ship. Not a bad program.

Thanks for the info. I have checked out this hotel, and it just may be the one we stay at. Our flight would get in at 8:00 PM, so we only need a place to sleep and transportation to the port. And they also include a breakfast buffet. We haven't made reservations yet, but they seem to have rooms available. =COOL
