Can't help with the beaches...we like to do other things. But we just went on the Pride in December. We really enjoyed the cruise director (which should still be the same I think). The service was great. The food was great. (except at David's the restaurant that costs extra money....service was bad and food wasn't cooked to order)The decor on this ship wasn't my favorite...but it was still really nice. The layout of the ship is one of my favorites. There is an early check-in at Long Beach in the Queen Mary...if you get there before 11:00 AM. You didn't say how you were getting there.Luggage is dropped off in the parking garage...the area closest to the pier. Luggage handlers do not work for Carnival...tips are probably a wise thing.I don't remember there being much difference - for the most part - between Carnival and RCI. There's the usual nightly paper, the sail and sign card, etc. This is one of my favorite itineraries...I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
