Carnival Sensation Questions

Hi to all,
Going to Bahamas on Sensation and had some questions. Can anyone tell me if the casino remains closed while the ship docks overnite in Nassau. Also, is there a particular side of the ship where smoking is allowed. Also, my new wife hasn't changed her name on her passport, so it doesn't match her driver's license. So, I guess my question is, do we need our passports for cruise to Bahamas? One last question, I promise, does anyone know which side of ship faces the dock when tied up in Freeport and Nassau?
Thanks for any help

I don't know about the passport question, but it is important to find the real answer to that question.

There is smoking on the ship - smoking is allowed in your cabin and designated areas of the ship. Those are listed in the Fun Times (Capers). An example is here:

Ships doesn't necessarily dock in the same direction each cruise - it depends on conditions and/or the whim of the captain.

In Nassau, port side was toward the dock where the ship was tied up, but starboard side faced Nassau (or another ship).

In Freeport, again it was the port side of the ship, but this time the port was also on the port side.

It could change from cruise to cruise.

First of all, regarding the passport. Your wife can travel using her passport as long as the name on the booking matches the name on the passport. That is to say, she could travel using her maiden name. (passports are always best option) Carnival would probably charge $50 to change the name after final payment is made. Option 2 is that if she is traveling with birth certificate and drivers license with different names it won't be a problem because the first name on both documents is the same as are the birth dates.

The casino is closed while the ship is in port. That's because there are casinos in Nassau and they don't want the cruise line casinos competing with the locals.

You never know if the ship is going to park bow in or bow out. This decision is made by the Captain and the Harbor Pilot based on tides, currents, wind direction etc. which affect the navigation of the ship at the time of docking.
