Carnival Vacation Club

Carnival Cruise Lines has elected to discontinue sales of the Carnival Vacation Club. Effective Sunday, March 18, 2007, sales of NEW Carnival Vacation Club memberships have been suspended, although this does not affect current CVC members or any of their member benefits. Solutions At Sea (SAS) and Carnival will continue to work cooperatively to provide the best possible service to these valuable clients both onboard and through the Carnival Vacation Club Service Center

FYI
Managed and sold by Solutions at Sea. "Carnival", "Carnival Vacation Club"

and other Carnival related trademarks and logos are used by Solutions at Sea

under license from Carnival Cruise Lines. Solutions at Sea is not an agent

for, affiliated or in partnership with, Carnival Cruise Lines.

Good! They sure know how to screw Carnival's customers over!

We have had the worst experience ever with them and regret getting sucked into their "bargain".

I'm really surpised. It looked like this was selling well on our last Miracle cruise. It sounded like a pretty good deal overall.

John, we thought so too until we got home a looked at all the information. The "real" deals came with the land trips...and of course if you golfed (which we don't). Plus we usually only have time to cruise - otherwise we are visiting family here or there.
There were a few facts they failed to mention..transfer fees, etc. that I didn't find out about until I went through all the materials. We used our cancel within three days option after determining it just wasn't for us.

I know two people personally who are in the club. One has cruised a lot and they can find much better deals online than what the club actually gives them. (Kind of like paying the brochure price instead of the super saver price.) The other couple hasn't cruised much - so they haven't figured that out yet. However, both couples say they wouldn't join if they had to do it over again.

I just hope that Solutions at Sea honors all of these points these people still have. It would be a shame if they changed their policy just because they weren't selling memberships anymore.

Our problem was that we were told one thing, and then when we came home to book our next cruise everything we were told was a lie. We have never been able to speak to a manager/supervisor about the issue either. Something kept him from returning our calls, i.e being sick, on vacation, meeting, etc. We bought into this program around Sept. of 2006, and still no one has returned my calls! Their customer service is fantastic :(

All we really wanted to do was to get out of the deal, so we used all of our points to book a family/friends cruise. This way we could help some people to join us and to get rid of all our points. Now we just have to use our land certificates, and that is a whole different issue on its own. They are extremely hard to book.

We would never buy into this program again, and we do not recommend it to any of our family or friends.

The CVC was only good for people who were purchasing it for the VIP Check In and Debarkation only. (yes, people were willing to pay $1,000.00 of their $3,500.00 program for this)

Unfortunately, CVC made a lot of promises that they knew they could not keep. (Example: discounts of 30% - 60% on your cruise ~~when in fact you are paying more than the going internet rate) And a whole lot of people bought it for the wrong reason based on what some sales agent told them. Lots of complaints to State Attorney General's offices.

Thank goodness, Carnival got their name out of this mess. A lot of people bought it thinking that Carnival owned and operated it, which they did not. They just sold the use of their name.

The good news is that the same 20 page contract that sealed your fate with ICE is now sealing ICE's fate. They have to honor all the contracts they sold for the life of those contracts. And while the offices that were on the 6 ships are closed (gone) ... someone I know just got on the Spirit and his VIP Check In and Debarkation is still being honored. He did get the choc. covered strawberries ~~ although he had to ask for it~~ and he is letting us know as the week goes on, what else they are still honoring.

The other good news is that CVC members will still get those perks even after their points are gone. So even if a member purchases a cruise with cash from a Carnival PVP or a TA, all they have to do is call CVC and give them the booking number. This will be good for the life of the contract (3 - 5 years depending on the package purchased)

Hopefully, people have learned that if you see a contract with the name ICE on it....RUN don't walk to the nearest door.
