Hello All,

My wife and I are on Valor this September and will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. I have not seen too much about this ship on these forums and I would love to hear from people who have cruised on this vessel.:phone

Also, we are going to do the Dolphin encounter in Nassau (once my wife read the details, that one was non negotiable). We would love to see some excursion suggestions for St Thomas and St Maarten...but, my wife is not a strong swimmer...and I am the size of guy that makes horses scream nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :)-D

My husband and I were on the Valor 2 years ago and to date it has been our favorite cruise. The ship was great, the food was great and we had the best service...I just can't say anything bad about it! We had a wonderful time!

We had the same itinerary as you do. In Nassau we did the Blue Lagoon excursion. It was an hour tender ride over and we didn't get much tjme there before we had to leave. Next time I would deninately opt for the dolphin encounter. In St. Thomas we went out to St. Johns to go snorkeling. While it was very pretty I wouldn't do that again. We saw no fish which was so disappointing. Once we got back to St. Thomas we did get a chance to walk around the shopping area a bit which was nice. I heard that the gondola trip to the top of the island was great and wished we had done that. Next time for sure! We absolutely LOVED St. Maarten and that was our favorite stop. There were a total of 6 of us spending the day together in St. Maarten. Four of us rented a jeep and the other two rented mopeds. When you get off the ship, down the dock, to the right there was a rental place and the prices were reasonable. Four of us paid $80 for the day to share the jeep. I don't remember what our friends paid for the mopeds. We all drove around the island at our own pace, which we found very easy to do. We stopped at Orient Bay for a few hours and rented beach chairs and umbrellas and had some snacks and drinks. We also rented wave runners and that was so much fun. The beach is gorgeous and the water was so clear and beautiful. After, we went over to the other side of the island and had lunch in Marigot and did some shopping. It was a very relaxing day.

I'm sure that whatever you choose to do you will have a wonderful time! Have fun!!

We do the sail excursions on a lot of the islands, through Carnival, and are never disappointed. We enjoy the slow sail around the island, the scenery is great and alcohol can be involved if you like. We choose the ones that involve snorkeling, the life vest will help your wife if she's not a strong swimmer, not mush swimming involved if you don't want, it's more about looking under the water, less about swimming. The vest they supply inflates a lot of foliation or little depends on what you want. It's an added plus if they pull up to an island. St. Marten and St. Thomas are 2 of my favorites, The taxi ride on St.Marten to the other side of the island to the main beaches(can't remember the name at this minute, but it's the one with the nude sunbathers). I enjoyed it not because of nudity, not my thing, but because of the drinks, less crowded, beautiful breach and a history of the island from the driver. AND finally, the dolphins is a MUST! Hope that helps. Pat

My husband and I are sailing on the Valor in September also and are looking for something special to do
in St. Thomas since that will be our 20th anniversary:couple! This will be our 10th cruise on Carnival so we will finally be Platinum.:D Are there any others joining us on board?

I also check the other site (don't know if they allow the name on here or not) but there are 4 other couples already on the roll call for this trip. If any of you want to join us, you are welcome.

St Thomas is a great place to shop and there are many shops within walking distance of the pier. If you are there past sunset, you must go up to Paradise point to watch the sunset. You will have a beautiful view of the harbor and the ships. As it begins to get dark and the sun sets, the ships begin to turn on their lights and it's just a sight to behold. We make a point to get up there each time we have stopped in St Thomas (3)

We were on the Valor in April 2006, but had to fly home after 2 days. We are sailing again this April for back 2 backs...Western and Eastern Caribbean. All the advise above is great. You should enjoy the ship and the itinerary.
