Hi Guys!!

I'm new to this forum...so let me start by saying "hello"!! :wave

Two weeks ago, my fiance' and I booked our fourth cruise with Carnival. We've never been on the Victory, we decided on it so that we could try out a different ship. We've also never sailed in a balcony cabin and decided to go this route this time. To save money, we booked a guarantee balcony. Today, I got a call from Audrey with Carnival. She said the because we had sailed several times in the past, she wanted to offer us an upgrade. She said there was one remaining "extended balcony" room on the Upper Deck (floor 6), room # 6436. Does anyone know anything about the Victory's extended decks? OR...has anyone ever sailed in this room specifically (or on of the rooms located beside it)? Its at the very end of the ship, so when we look out from our room, we will see out from the back instead of either side. My concern is that according to the deck plans, the deck right below ours looks to be a bar. We're young, so its definitely not like we'll be bed bound early, but if anyone has stayed in the same general area on the Victory (again...we're room 6436) can you tell me how you enjoyed your stay, and if this is a good area to be in?

Thanks so much guys!!!

Hi sch2380

I just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Freedom, which is the same class of ship. We had an oceanview stateroom with an extended balcony. It was in the aft section but not at the very back. It was the last room on the side (8449). It was about 4-5 feet wider than a normal balcony stateroom and made the room seem huge. It was our first cruise and we will always get a balcony for our future cruises. At night, we turned off the air-conditioning and used the door stopper to prop the balcony door open while we slept. The sounds were very soothing. We were directly below the lido deck and only on one night did we hear party sounds. The music was great and the sounds of heels boucing on the deck above really didn't bother us (and we're 50+). Occasionally we would hear the crew dragging the lounge chairs to stack them for the night. It was only for a short time.
I googled Carnival Victory to see the deck plan for floor six which has the room offered to you. It is indeed at the back end which will give you glorious views of the ships' wake in the sunset. I find the portrayal of the room sizes to be relatively accurate. It appears that room #6436 is no different in size to the balcony rooms at either side of the ship. As far as noise from lounges above, you are three decks removed from those sounds. Shouldn't be a problem at all. Additional benefit is there is little traffic past your door except for neighbouring guests.

Aft balcony cabins are in BIG DEMAND. That was a great upgrade :thumb We had aft balconies twice. Just MY OWN OPINION, but I like the "side" balconies better. But the wake is beautiful to look out on, and the balcony is deeper. We are now certified aft WRAPAROUND balcony snobs.... We loved the Victory. If you like "action" at night, check out the casino bar. Grab a seat early. They have a great band there and later at night it almost becomes a disco. Even people walking along to go to the shows will dance a little jig while walking past! :grin A great site to look at deck plans is cruisedeckplans.com Have a FANTASTIC cruise! ps/just be prepared to WALK a lot to get to your cabin. I always figured it was good for a double dose of chocolate melting cake! Good news is you never have to look at door numbers to figure out where your cabin is :lol

What is the problem. Take it. It is an upgrade and the best part it doesn't cost anymore. On the bad side when the cruise is over you have to leave.

Enjoy it and don't worry, be happy.

We just returned from 8439, best room we could have asked for. We were under the lido deck and I was concerned about chair scraping and noise but we heard little to nothing from above. The view of the wake, the sunrise or sunset we had on several occasions were awesome. You get 4 chairs and two tables for the balcony, so there is room to entertain your new dinnermates if you wish. You will have no balcony rooms below you, and you will be visible in the front part of your balcony to those above you, however.

I hope you took it, you should really enjoy it - and if you appreciate the 'white noise' of water rushing, you'll get a lot of it when the ship is moving.
