Hi sch2380

I just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Freedom, which is the same class of ship. We had an oceanview stateroom with an extended balcony. It was in the aft section but not at the very back. It was the last room on the side (8449). It was about 4-5 feet wider than a normal balcony stateroom and made the room seem huge. It was our first cruise and we will always get a balcony for our future cruises. At night, we turned off the air-conditioning and used the door stopper to prop the balcony door open while we slept. The sounds were very soothing. We were directly below the lido deck and only on one night did we hear party sounds. The music was great and the sounds of heels boucing on the deck above really didn't bother us (and we're 50+). Occasionally we would hear the crew dragging the lounge chairs to stack them for the night. It was only for a short time.

I googled Carnival Victory to see the deck plan for floor six which has the room offered to you. It is indeed at the back end which will give you glorious views of the ships' wake in the sunset. I find the portrayal of the room sizes to be relatively accurate. It appears that room #6436 is no different in size to the balcony rooms at either side of the ship. As far as noise from lounges above, you are three decks removed from those sounds. Shouldn't be a problem at all. Additional benefit is there is little traffic past your door except for neighbouring guests.
