Carnival vs. Disney

We have only been on one cruise - Disney Wonder in 2001 which we loved. We are
considering a cruise in Oct/Nov and are trying to decide between the Glory or Triumph or going doing the Disney Magic. Has anyone one done both cruise lines that could help us make a decision.

Hi,
I've never been on a Disney cruise, but I guess my question would be do you have children? Camp Carnival is great but from what I have heard Disney cruises are better as far as activities for children. I bet someone on this board that HAS cruised on both with kids will be able to give you specifics. You might also want to post this question on the community board. :)

We have sailed on the DIsney Magic twice, and on Carnival Spirit, Conquest, Legend, and Fantasy. I enjoyed all of these cruises. My kids prefer Carnival over Disney (and they prefer RCI most of all) but my husband and I probably prefer Disney over Carnival.

The food is better on Carnival, but the service is better on Disney. We LOVED Castaway Cay from Disney, and in our opinion no other cruseline's private island is aanywhere near as pristine and beautiful. The Disney ships are more beautiful and elegant than the Carnival ships which are more gaudy in decor. But Carnival gives great value for money. We enjoy Carnival and will sail them again in the future.

Let us know what you decide.

We have only sailed on Carnival, but we looked into Disney very closely. Week for week, the Disney cruise would have cost us exactly (almost to the dollar) twice what our Carnival Inspiration cruise cost our family of five back in March. Our children, who are not toddlers (ages 12 and 9), were not that bowled over by the thought of Disney characters, etc., so we decided to go with Carnival. For those for whom money is no object, perhaps Disney is fine, but my schoolteacher husband and I (I'm a business manager) are quite frugal.

Anyway, I can't imagine how our boys could have had a better time, not to mention my husband and myself. Camp Carnival lived up to and exceeded our expectations and we found the dining, the entertainment, and the accommodations to be just great. We would go again in a NY second!

My Wife and I took our honey moon 3.5 years back with crusing and Disney. Only we looked into Disney cruises and I'll have to agree with OBFam above. We took a week long eastern cruise on the Destiny, over Christmas And then drove from Miami to Orlando and spent 4 days in the parks for equal to or less than a one week Disney cruise would have cost.

If your kids are young enough, go for the disney, but as stated above, I've never seen anything but good come from the Camp Carnival program and then you can spend even more time on your vacation if possible :)

From what I understand from my travel agent friend(met her on a Carnival cruise with her grandchildren) said that the Disney is very pricey and you end up paying for a lot of the extras. She picked Carnival because of the kids program. Hope this helps

Disney offers absolutely nothing that justifies the price differential. Go on 2 Carnival cruises for the price of one on Disney!

The #1 question is do you have kids? My kids cruised on Carnival first and LOVED IT. The next year we thought "If they liked the kids program on Carnival , they will LOVE the kids program on Disney".......WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There were so many children on Disney the counselors had NO TIME to coax my sometimes shy kids to stay. My husband and I never got to set foot in any on the "adult only areas" of the ship. My kids have since sailed with RCI and also loved it. My advice is to cruise on Carnival or RCI and save the money for a second trip!!
