The newer ships on RCI have some great amenities for teens. The roller blading track, the rock climbing wall. How old are your kids. My 17 year old loves RCI. There are always kids her age onboard and she has a great time.

To expound a little on my answer, it seems that Royal Caribbean has more activities for the mid and older teens than Carnival does.

The newer ships on RCCL win hands down- they are affordable luxury and can highly recommend them. Their teens programmes are great and activities outside are wonderful.
Carnival can be fun, but it depends if you like the Carnival decor and passengers. I think their glitz and neon and brass is too much to handle. Royal Carib has wonderful decor and the service is amazing.
Highly suggest RCCL.

Kathy V. what RCI ships were you on? I have never been on one where the ship died out that early. Not the party animal type like on Carnival , but not boring either. Now on the Zenith this past April, boy was it quiet after 10 pm :lol :lol

We were on Majesty of the Seas in June, 2001, and I would agree with Kathy, other than the buffet, the ship was quiet after midnight!

The Voyager class ships of RCCL look like they have by far the best / most activities for the teen group. Enjoy!!!

Since I'm an old F--t, I can't attest to the children's and teen's programs. I can, however; relay the opinions of both my own children as teens, as well as a couple of my grandchildren, they say Carnival wins hands down. Guess it could be because none of them are interested in ice skating or climbing rock walls.

RCI, teens programs on Carnival are not receiving rave reviews. This age group is hard to please. Go with a new Voyager class ship on RCI for the most family fun.

Have been on Carnival 2 times, RC once. I would never take my "older" teens on RC. They rolled the carpet up at 11:00 - not like Carnival whick had activities till 2:00.

My kids (16, 15, 13 and 8) absolutely loved Carnival. Rock climbing and ice skating are something they aren't interested in so I can't even get them to consider RCCL

I have been on Carnival my kids love Carnival. But in checking out things I noticed that the Camps which are good ice breakers on Carnival end at 15, and on Royal at 17.

We really enjoyed the rcl. and didn't have a good time the first carnival trip we took.
But due to money constraints we are again trying carnival but on a newer, bigger ship and are getting a balcony. It's ok for the things to die down at midnight, we are in bed by 10:00pm anyway.

Sorry folks but we were on the Destiny in April of 2002 and the ship was generally asleep by 2 at the latest, so its not a complete party crowd. The Conquest which is coming out is supposed to feature a new expanded TEEN program for your kids also so you may want to check that out. Whichever you do you will be paying top dollar to be sailing spring break timeframe.

I have a good friend who works for RCI and has told me that the age group is difficult. They seem to have everything for the young ones and over 21 unless you are into ice skating and rock climbing which you can only do so many times before it gets old. It is my understanding that the new Conquest class ships by Carnival will have special area's that will cater to the young adult crowd. Currently Carnival has the teen disco until midnight. Other than that, I am not sure what there really is for that age group. I have a neice who is 18 and went with some friends on Carnival and she had a very good time. I think it is going to be a tough choice either way. Good luck!

We debated this same thing. We are taking our kids on the Navigator of the Seas. They chose the ship after researching both lines. Mom and Dad are paying LOL....Stephanie

The Carnival Pride at least has virtually NOTHING in terms of planned activities for the 16 - 20 y.o. group. The "teen disco" , at least on our cruise, was mostly populated by 13 - 16 y.o.s and a few even younger (even though they were supposed to be excluded). Add to that the fact that the pools close very early and of course they are below the age of legal drinking and you're talking BOOOORRRRIIIINNNGGGG.
