I have cruised once on Royal Carribean. I will be sailing Aug 2 on Carnival Glory. Anyone have any thouhgts on Carnival versus RCL? Food? Service?

I have not cruised on RCCL but I have cruised on Carnival and several other lines. Carnival was much better than I expected. Carnival food was as good as any other cruise line I have been on. The service was very good. I have absolutely no problems with cruising on Carnival. I do prefer another cruise line for personal preference but I have no problem with going on Carnival again which I am doing in Sept.
Give Carnival a try you may be surprised at how good a product Carnival does have.

I have only sailed on CCL, started off as part of a group of 400 people for a seminar cruise in 2000, have gone every year since. Our group won't go to another line because of how well CCL has taken care of us and the needs a group of our size has, such as booking the public rooms, lounges etc, during the day for seminar sessions, grouping us all together in the dining room, cocktail parties, etc! The CCL of today is not what it was in the past. From others I know who have sailed on other lines, CCL and RCI, they say both lines are very comparable! If you stick with the newer ships, you are fine. You'll have to be sure to post a review of the Glory on this board. We are sailing on her next April with both sets of parents and are anxious to hear about her!

just got back....didn't overeat and still gained several pounds....tasted small portions of everything...food was consistently good and plentiful. main dining room or buffet style dining always had several good options. you won't be disappointed or hungry!

Have sailed on both lines. Food is great on both in the dining rooms. I think that CCL's lido deck has better qualtiy and variety than RCCL's Horizon Deck. I will be on the Glory also on 8/2. Have never sailed the Conquest class, but have sailed the fantasy, destiny and spirit class for CCL as well as the Voyager class and older RCCL ships.
