Carnival announced late yesterday that the Fantasy would be calling on Progreso until further notice. The Holiday is also scheduled to call there on Monday's sailing, 8/27. I've been there twice but did not get off the ship; not too impressive. The ships dock at a pier at the end of a 4 mile long jetty that extends north from the town of Progreso. Complimentary buses operate in both directions while the ship is in port in order to ferry passengers into town and back to the ship. Were I to return there, I'd most likely take a tour to Merida, or to one of the Mayan ruins. Not much desirable beach activity around Progreso that I could see.
