I have sailed Carnival several times now.. I've been aboard the Carnival Spirit, Legend and Conquest and had a great time on all of these ships. I know Carnival has gotten a bad reputation from the past and this is why the company talks about todays 'New' Carnival. Can some of you please tell me and other here why Carnival is your favorite in your own words?

Thank you in advance.

Well, for me, it's the price. Carnival is the best price and I've always received great service. Fun is different for everyone, but we have found that the people who cruise Carnival are a lively crowd. The staff on-board Carnival also are very pleasant. I have only sailed one other ship, NCL Sky, so I'm not much of an expert here. The Cruise Director and staff on-board the Sky were lots of fun, too. I would really like to compare these 2 cruise lines to Royal Caribbean and would really like to sail an RCI ship for comparison.

Anyway, I am a very happy Carnival cruiser, but would also like to try some other ships for comparison.John wrote:

Well for starters we have only sailed Carnival Cruise Lines. I have also spent a lot of time at sea on long range sportfishers out of San Diego, Ca. The two experiences are in different categories, so I probably shouldn't have brought it up. We like
Carnivals "attitude", that is we are having a somewhat luxurious vacation, yet they are not so impressed with themselves that you are made to feel umcomfortable. My wife and I cruise to enjoy each others company in a relaxed setting. Dressing for dinner is a joy to us, so we do most every night, and don't feel out of place doing so. I could do without a lot of things Carnival offers, so I just don't pay attention to those things. The Vegas feel of the ships of theirs we have sailed is right up our alley also. I consider vacations in general, and cruises in particular, to be a bit of fantasy and Carnival fosters this feelimg.

I will not say Carnival is my favorite however Carnival did a great job for us on our back to back on the Victory in January. I would say that the things I have seen printed or heard that were supposed to be bad about Carnival were NOT true. The ship, food and service were very good. Actually the wait staff we had on our last week on Carnival was without question the best wait staff we have ever had out of 5 different cruise lines.

The only negative I found on Carnival was our first week of the back to back when there were a lot of college kids onboard. We did hear a few arguments and fights in the middle of the night from some obviously drunk passengers. This I do not find to be Carnivals fault just the fault of some drunks.

I would cruise Carnival again without hesitation if I found the destination and price to be what I wanted.

My first exposure to cruising was on Carnival. The Tropical, but long enough ago that she was still a nice ship. Taught me that pound for pound, Carnival provides the best bang for the buck, hands down. Add their new ships, their new attitude and they are a serious player for all level of cruisers. They are doing away with the party ship image without having to give up the "Funship" image. I cruise mostly on HAL but would never turn my back on Carnival Lines, my opinion is that they are responsible for bringing cruising to the real world.

Admittedly, I have only sailed on Carnival, but I have always had an AWESOME time, with very, very little to complain about. Every year for the past 4 I have traveled as part of a group of 400 people, and Carnival has been extremely accomodating. Others in our group who have sailed on RCCL and Princess have told us that while both of these lines were nice, they really preferred the Carnival experience. The laid back atmosphere with the personal attention, great food, variety of activities any time of the day and the value for the money and overall customer service. I have really enjoyed sailing on Carnival and have plans to do 2 with them in '04. I LOVE them!
Happy Sails! :) :) :)

I've sailed RCCL, NCL, Cunard, Costa and Regal besides Carnival....I like Carnival because they offer shorter itineries, different days of departure and an atmosphere I like. I can get on a ship and relax although I love the formal nights (people watcher) My last 4 cruises have been on Carnival and my next one is on the Legend May 6th out of Philly. Thats great because I can drive to the port, no flying. Bringing the ship to me is something that I look forward to and I hope they will bring more ships and more sailings to alternative ports. Also, for a new cruiser, Carnival is a good choice to give them the taste for cruising.

Carnival is ONE of my many favorite cruise lines. The NEW Carnival delivers a cruise experience for a 59-year-old that is very enjoyable and relaxing. Very similar to the other mainstream lines.

I will forever be grateful to Carnival for delivering what I have been trying to experience sine the 60's cruising wise ~~ A FULL-BLOWN HURRICANE ~~ LILI ~~!!~~ I travel in late September or early October trying to find a hurricane. Lili, a full class 4 hurricane was experienced last October when she caught us from behind as we tried in vain to outrun her. Another of life pleasure achieved--Thank You Carnival !

When the winds hit the side of the Holiday she listed hard to port, breaking many thing on board. We were on deck 4 and every few seconds the waves COMPLETELY covered our window. At dinner we had a starboard table and as we glazed across the dining room all we could see was water.

Barf bags were everywhere, and there were few passengers out and about to enjoy the 25-foot seas and of course the decks were locked closed because of the extremely high winds.

This was a "CARNIVAL RIDE" better that any carnival ride at the state fair...

I heard from someone telling about this trip where the people got sick like that .. NOw I remember ....... Our dinner mates on the Fantasy were on that trip I think .. or one as worse .. The man of the couple said he and his son were the only ones at the dinner table ..

It must have been an earlier trip tho because you said yours was last year .. Thiers was earlier ..
I couldnt imagine . It would be like right out of a Stephen King novel . He wrote a story about some country fair about people getting sick and then everyone got sick ..

I cant imagine . nor do I want to .. IN fact I want to get this picture out of my MIND ..

could you tell us of a more enjoyabletrip but WAIT A MINUTE ..
You enjoyed it ... Well that is great and I am happy to know that you can be one that enjoys high waves and high seas and still stay afloat ..
Hope your next trip hits a kahuna wave

Most of my cruises have been on Carnival; Spirit, Conquest & twice on Celebration. I used to think that I wanted to try another line but then I decided "Why try & fix what's not broke". Carnival has good food, good service & good entertainment & the other cruisers are the absolute best. I've also heard comments from other people who have cruised other lines & then cruised Carnival, and they say the people on Carnival are by far the most friendly.

For me it is the casual atmosphere. Carnival has done a great job in recent years to shed the party till you puke image but still keep the aspect of fun ship style cruising. Their new Spirit class design is one of the best out there. I cruised on the Pride and Legend last year making them my 10th and 11th cruise with Carnival. They have also IMHO brought their quality and selection of food up. Their entertainment remains some of the best at sea. You get the best bang for the buck.

Me, I was taking NO CHANCES, while ya'll dance the night away, I had my life vest on{until the crew made me take it of due to the unrest I was causing among the other passengers} !! :lol

I love the atmosphere on a Carnival cruise! We've been on other lines (RCI twice, Premier, etc.), but they just don't have the fun that we've found on all our Carnival cruises. The Celebration was our first Carnival cruise in 1997. It was our best cruise up until that time, although the food left a lot to be desired. The following year, we cruised on RCI's Grandeur of the Seas -- the food was fabulous, the ship was beautiful, but we kept feeling like something was missing. It was the FUN!! The next year it was back to Carnival, on the Sensation, and the food was better than the Celebration, not quite as good as the Grandeur. Next was the Triumph -- great ship, great service, fantastic food!! We enjoyed that cruise so much, we went back on the Triumph again the next year and it was even better the second time around! We were back to RCI in October of last year on the Enchantment of the Seas because we found a deal too good to pass up. Now, I know better! We are going on the Carnival Victory four weeks from now and cannot wait!!! :)
