I've seen this asked several times, but it never gets many answers. I will be there in early June. When I return I'll fill you in on what learn.

This is a relatively new port for cruise ships and there is lots of room for improvement. We were on the Mellennium in February. The ship does not arrive until late afternoon. There are free shuttle buses that take you to two different places, the Marina and the Village. There are some shops, bars and restaurants in each area. Both are pretty low key. There are some very pretty views and the village is a reproduction of an Italian town. The locals don't speak much English. The cruise staff encourages you to go to the Latin music show in the evening. We did not attend but others said they enjoyed it.
Golfers can play at Teeth of the Dog which is located in the same area. The golf pro on the Millie was able to make arrangements for those interested. There were no beach or snorkeling excursions offered by the ship when we went. We arrived so late in the day and weren't feeling particularly adventurous to go exploring on our own. I hope they have gotten their act together by the time you go.

I would also be interested in any information about what to do or what not to do in this "port". If anyone has recently sailed to this port, perhaps they can share their experiences. We will be going on the Paradise in early August and I'll be glad to post something then.

I've seen positive reviews of the Saona Beach excursion on another cruise BB, costs $85 per person ... I think that's what we'll do in September when we go on the Paradise!
