I may be totally wrong on this, but I don't remember seeing a casino near the pier in SJ last year. The pier from which Carnival sails is within walking distance of Old San Juan, so if you research it, you might find a casino in the area. I just don't remember seeing one anywhere near the pier.

Have fun!!

:)-DThere is a casino in the hotel just in front of where the ships dock. I think it is a Marriott but may be mistaken. Spent several hours there after our tour of OLD SAN JUAN.
By the way the local buses run all over OLD SAN JUAN. I think it is 1 or 2 dollars. Ride the bus to the top of the hill at the old forts. after looking at the forts (they are interesting and a US National Park) you can easily walk back down the hill with shopping, bars, straw markets to the casino and ship. Have fun.

Poke is right. . .There's a hotel directly in front of the pier from which Carnival ships leave. I forgot that the hotels have casinos in them. We stayed in the Marriott Condado (about 10 minutes away by bus). While I know you don't want to go there for a casino, that Marriott did have a casino. We paid 25 cents per person each way in bus fare last summer. The bus terminal is also right across from that particular pier.

One word of advice if you are going to be in San Juan only on your day of departure. We walked around Old San Juan for a couple of hours the day before our cruise left, and it was very hot and humid. We were soaked! Luckily, we found a Starbucks and Frappaccinos!bb

I think that hotel directly in front of the pier is a wyndam. Anyway the first floor is a casino and a bar off to one side. there are several casino's in new San Juan but it is to far to walk. viet
