I know that money isn't something that is needed on Celebrity cruises, but I am sure I will need quarters for the casino, right? (I don't gamble much).

Quarters are money right!!!/// ... seriously though you don't need to take them they got lots and lots and lots. Use your credit card or ship account to get them at the casino cashier. Remember also the odds at Sea are worse than Vegas.

Seabob & Nita,
The reason I asked is because my husband had thrown all his loose change into a box and used some of it as ballmarkers when playing golf and recently let me "clean him out" !!!!!! And I now have $10 in quarters, $5 in dimes and the pennies I'll give to the poor box at church. So do the casinos on Celebrity take dimes or just quarters? (the nickles are gone, we spent them).

I haven't cruised Celebrity yet, but on NCL ships there are no dime slots. Dime slots are hard to find anywhere, anymore. Believe it or not NCL has penny slots. Even they can be fun, so save you copper coins. Have a good cruise.

Joanne,You don't have to bring any coins with you. If you decide to play the slots, simply go to the cashier and buy a roll of whatever coins you need. When you're finished (and if you have any coins left) you just take them back to the cashier and exchange them for bills. In fact, you might not need to buy coins at all. Some slot machines accept bills and give you "credits", which you play with until you finish and "cash out". Bottom line, don't bother to bring coins to the ship!KV

KV,
The casino was supposed to be the answer to my problem--hubby giving me loads of change that I want to use somehow. He saved it up and was using it as ball markers for his golf game. So getting MORE coins won't help. LOL.
Thanks anyway.

Take the coins to the bank prior to the cruise and change them for bills. Will be a LOT easier to carry--then go to the casino and exchange the bills for what ever you want in coins. Put the coins in the slots, then you will be rid of the coins and bills, with nothing left to carry. Celebrity will have it all !!

HI NITA!!

By now the quarters are all over the Caribbean. I am returning on October 10, onboard SUMMIT to try and recapture some of them. Celebrity must have a quarter wharehouse somewhere in the Caribbean...they never seem to run out. LOL!!!

Hey BSea; the odds were pretty good for me. We cruised Carnival Spirit in Jan 03 and I got a Royal Flush. Might not happen often and I still cant believe it happened to me! Helped pay for my next cruise.

Ross, I bet they put some of your quarters in the machine with my name on it, that would be the Constellation. Actually we are going to Laughlin NV in a few days so I can win enough to pay for the upcoming cruise. LOL

You will not need quater's at all. All the machines take bills. You can choose from nickel, quater, dollar and if you are really keen $5 slots.
If you need extra cash just use your room key to get some. Don't use your credit card as you will be charged interest by your bank.
