We were there this past April, dry season. No bugs and lower water level. When we came upon dry spots, Reggie, would let everyone know they had to get up and out of the tube. You then ported your tube to the next let in. I am sure some areas are much deeper than others. With dry season, also, you can get "hung up" on rocks if you don't paddle away from the low sports. This happened many times and is a little difficult to get out.The trek through the rain forest is on a graded path, thus old canvas sneakers or teva style sandals work out best. It is a 30-45 minute walk through shaded jungle. Is is not straight up hill but gradual. Well, I am probably in the similar out of shape category and I have asthma which gets triggered by humidity and exertion. I kept a piece of gum in my mouth for moisture, we made several short stops for the group to catch up, and the walk did not bother me at all. It wasn't as hot as I thought it would be as it was shady. The paddleing was more strenuous than I had ever imagined. I ended up with Rubber burn on the underside of both arms. Thank goodness I had some Hydrocortisone. All in all I am glad that I did it as I was really looking forward to doing something different. Reggie gages the size of the tube to the individual, also.Bon Voyage
