Has anyone done the pirate cruise excursion in the grand caymans? And did you have time to go do anything else after it? Also has anyone jsut taken a cab to a local beach? Or went snorkeling anywhere good? Any info would help, Thanks!!!

Last time we were there we just went to seven mile beach, rented a sailboat for an hour and then went snorkeling off the beach. Beach snorkeling at seven mile beach is not that great. You can do just about any kind of water activities at seven mile beach.

We have done the stingray city trip twice and that's really the best. Two separate reefs and stingray city too. Here's a link for that info.

If this is your first trip to Cayman, do not miss the stingrays. Just my opinion, but I thought they were amazing. Many of the charters combine the sandbar with a snorkel trip. Carnival and Captain Marvin's both offer this.

Is the stingray excursion ok for a 5year-old? My son says he would be too scared to get in the water with them. Let me know what you think.

Well, it depends. If you click on the link in my other post above there are a number of pictures of stingray city with people interacting with them. You could also go to a web site like Webshots and search Stingray City and there are hundreds of photos. If your five year old can see the pictures of so many people (including kids) with the Rays maybe he won't be scared any more. The rays are harmless, I assure you, and quite friendly actually.

I'd still do the trip anyway because at worst case he wont go in at the sand bar but there are two other snorkel stops on the excursion with no stingrays and the grown ups shouldn't miss swimming with the rays. All snorkel boats have life jackets for the kids to wear so it is safe.

Let us know what you decide.
