Just wondering if anyone had thoughts RE: the Fantasy? We're considering her for Sept. We've been on RCL's SOS are they at all similar?

THANKS

Hi, I'm going on June 26 so I will be sure to post a review. I'm hoping for the best and have read a lot of mixed reviews. I did hear that they may be dry docking her sometime in September to do repairs, I'm not positive though.

Yes ... the Fantasy is going in dry dock ... her last cruise before dry docking is 08.31.03 and the first cruise after dry docking is 10.19.03 ... at least this is what I have been told by Carnival ...

Went on her in 99'...still in pretty good condition, but I'm sure the dry docking will help a lot! She is 13 yrs old! I didn't care much for the pools on her, way too crowded, but we did go @ a busy time. The newer CCL ships (spirit and conquest class) have much better pools & pool layouts/design!

Went on the Fantasy in 2001right after 9/11. Lots of people had cancelled their cruise due to the attacks. The ship wasn't in bad shape. There were areas that needed sprucing up but overall the cruise was great. We hung out at the pool on the Verandah deck. It was less crowded and more room to spread out. It was all the way on the back of the ship and you have a great view of the wake. I personally feel that Carnival does a much better job on the placement of their pools than RCI. You just have to keep in mind that it will not be a Princess or Celebrity cruise and you will get what you paid for (a great vacation for a great price). If you are looking for extreme luxury the Fantasy is not for you.
