CCL Inspiration Excursions

Hi, my family (wife, 17 year old son and 15 year old daughter) and I are going on the CCL Inspiration in June 2004.

I was wondering if any of you have suggestions for excursions in the Cayman Islands, Coasta Maya, Cozumel, or Belize. I hear that booking them in advance is significantly less expensive than on the ship. I would also be interested in the approximate costs of the excursions.

Thanks

There are 2 ways you can go. Many people are brave enough to book excursions direct from local island companies. Some even allow pre booking from websites before the cruise. While this saves money by cutting out the cruise lines cut, it can be a little more dangerous as they may not guarantee that you get back to the ship on time( And the ship WILL sail without you!! ) or they may take unnecessary risks like allowing you to snorkel in rougher waters that is really safe.

Or, You can book your excursion from the cruise line either before you sail or once you board but I dont think there is a cost difference by booking early (at least I have never seen one).

If you plan any type of adventure excursion (snorkeling, ATV, etc) I would book through the cruise line. However, In cozumel, there is a great park on the island (chankanaab) which is a $10 taxi ride and $10 per person to get in. Once inside, you canr ent snorkel gear and have a ball. There would be no need to pay the $30+ per person from the cruise line to take the same taxi to the place.

Hope this helps a little

Good luck ! We are cruising March with 2 kids and I have been trying to get prices on the excursions for a month now and NO LUCK !! I have finally gone to Cozumelinsider.com/tours, Finding good information and some prices there, but again that would be on our own, not with Cruise ship assistance. This cruise-addicts.com has given me the best information so far. A web site something like atlantisadventures was also somewhat helpful, for the submarine excursions. ($75 adult, 3-12 yrs $38)
I will relay anymore information as I come accross it.
Cant wait to get outta the Snow.

I have the CCL Inspiration shore excusions listing from Carnival. It includes prices and it's the ports of Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Caymen, and Belize. If you'd like them email me and I can attach it via word format.

I also booked my excursions. I used shoretrips.com to decide what I wanted to do. Then went directly to the dolphin discovery web site to schedule my swim.

We were on the Inspiration last April. In Grand Cayman I booked online
through Tropicana tours. Their website gives you great pictures, the types
and prices. We did the Turtle Farm/Hell/SHell House. I think it was around
3 hours long, but interesting. It was my family of 4 and another couple, a
very pleasant guide named Delbert (I think) and it was very inexpensive
compared to the ship's tour. Sorry, I can't remember how much!
In Cozumel we did the Catamaran Sail Snorkel and Beach. IT was great,
but a little costly. It was our first time in Mexico, so we didn't know what to
expect. We went to New Orleans too, but I know the itinerary is changed now.
Have fun!
