Jetblue is right. Carnival never really enforced their code anyway.
I have to say I'm conflicted about how I feel about this. On the one hand I really like having the written code match what they actually allow. I've always said, they should either enforce the code, or change it. Well now they've really changed it.
They are now specifically allowing shorts in the dinning room. They seem to be particular that they be "dress (long) shorts", and not basketball or gym shorts. And this is what distresses me about the rule change: I'm willing to bet that it won't be but two cruises before the people who think rules don't apply to them, will be wearing shorty shorts, and swimsuits to dinner. As the old saying says, give them an inch and they will surely take a mile.
On the positive side, this might make the packing a bit easier. I've always followed the dress rules, as they were written, (not what everyone did anyway), so I never wore even capis to dinner. But if shorts are specifically allowed, I will definitely start wearing my nicer capris and dressy short sets to dinner. It will mean a few less long pants in the suitcase.
