I heard about this. I guess we have to wait for the current Carnival cruisers to come back and tell us if this is being "rigidly enforced." We ALWAYS bring soda on all our cruises, and some soda that is not soda too! :grin I often wondered if the cruise lines have "spys" on these forums and all the cruise lines know that some people smuggle alcohol on the ship in soda bottles. Most of them cracked down on this. Guess Carnival finally decided to do the same. This is really a bummer. (td)
I have to admit, not happy about this one. I always bring my own water...most water tastes funny to me so I bring my own. Plus, hubby likes Pepsi versus Coke so we bring that as well. Well, I'm still bringing it and am interested as well to see if this new rule is followed by the staff. Bummer!
For some reason I thought that was always there. I know they use to have trouble with some passengers bringing cases of soda on board. We haven't tried to take more than a few bottles of juice...which they've never touched.
Have they actually started searching luggage for alcohol in the soda bottles and soda in soda bottles?
I didn't experience this on the Destiny (3/25). We took a box with 24 cans of soda and 12 bottles of water. If they have this policy, it isn't in force yet.
