Wow unbelievable... I guess I can no longer get that soda onboard without sneaking it on!

I heard about this. I guess we have to wait for the current Carnival cruisers to come back and tell us if this is being "rigidly enforced." We ALWAYS bring soda on all our cruises, and some soda that is not soda too! :grin I often wondered if the cruise lines have "spys" on these forums and all the cruise lines know that some people smuggle alcohol on the ship in soda bottles. Most of them cracked down on this. Guess Carnival finally decided to do the same. :( This is really a bummer. (td)

I have to admit, not happy about this one. I always bring my own water...most water tastes funny to me so I bring my own. Plus, hubby likes Pepsi versus Coke so we bring that as well. Well, I'm still bringing it and am interested as well to see if this new rule is followed by the staff. Bummer!

For some reason I thought that was always there. I know they use to have trouble with some passengers bringing cases of soda on board. We haven't tried to take more than a few bottles of juice...which they've never touched.

Have they actually started searching luggage for alcohol in the soda bottles and soda in soda bottles?

We were on the Elation Feb 17 07, we had a 12 pack of Cherry Coke and 12 pack of water. Carried it right on no problem.

If all these drunk people would quit juming overboard - they might ease up!

We just got back from Princess and put bottles in our luggage with no problem. Hope to do the same on Carnival in Sept.

I didn't experience this on the Destiny (3/25). We took a box with 24 cans of soda and 12 bottles of water. If they have this policy, it isn't in force yet.

I think that Carnival is going to enforce this on a "case by case" (no pun intended) basis.

I think they just got tired of the collapsable coolers and suitcases packed with beer.

Now they can "enforce" or not...as they choose.

I thought that their policy has always been pretty much on a case to case basis. And that they allowed a reasonable amount per person.

Was I wrong all this time?
