We just retiuned from the May 6 sailing on the Summit to Alaska......The CDS show seemed to be more interactive but on "white night",passengers seemed confused about what was going on on how to react.
The bar emptied out by 11:30. They did have a disco but the music was lame (by that i mean stale and
tired)They did offer alot of tasty food, but no one seemed to know it was available so our table ended up with what amounted to a meal. Drinks are expensive and we found the decor UGLY....The waiters looked strained in their costumes. The cast did various acts on the dance floor as well as some platforms . They begin the night with white curtians drawn around the dance floor and project various pictures, when they remove the curtian you dance a bit then all the characters interact with the projections on the curtian behind the dance floor. The interaction is a bit strained, although we belive they are trying to tell some sort of story. The mosaic floor in the entry way is beautiful with smoke pouring down as you enter.
We did go to the bar several times during the day and they are keeping it open so you can enjoy the somewhat limted view. If you do go during the day garb one of the forward beds and a book. It's very relaxing.
The other nights the bar is open for dancing but it doesn't attract very many patrons. It's a great place to plan your own group party because if you insist they manage to pump up the tempo a bit and every one dances and has a good time.
We think that once the contract is up the bar will be history. This seemems to be a try out for CDS who is intrested in opening clubs with this theme in various cities...We wish them well but as far as we're concerned
The Bar at the Edge should be pushed over the edge.
