Celebrity Equinox - Mediterranean Cruise

We are thinking of taking the 11-day Mediterranean cruise on Celebrity Equinox in May 2011. My wife is absolutely hung up on visiting exotic Istanbul and I am absolutely hung up on visiting the Greek islands! Has anybody taking this cruise lately? Please give us your feedback. Where would we stay before the cruise starts in Rome? Any good ideas for pre-cruise and post-cruise activities in Rome in particular and Italy in general? Would very much appreciate any information you can share.

I read Jim's journal he did a great job of putting it all together. I liked it so much I wrote him inquiring about some of the ports he visited. We are booked on the Queen Victoria in Nov. for a Mediterranean cruise. Have you sailed the mediterranean yet. ??? Cunard wont post tours till 120 days out but I'd like to get some booked now. Sandy and Kent

While I'm not taking the Equinox cruise - I am joining the Ruby Princess in Barcelona for a 28 day cruise leaving Sept 26th - cruising Med - and including Turkey - so this was a great question / read. Thanks again!

Utah.. I haven't been over there and likely will not make it. I'm one of those over sized individuals that's going to need a upper class roomy seat to get on a plane to go that far. So a lottery win is required. :)

It is so great that others enjoy sharing their joys of cruising.Thanks for all I have gained on this site the short time I have belonged. Your links to jimbellomo and Mike and carol preismans. Learned a lot from them and we have chose two of their guides. Hope your having a great summer. Utahlady

I went on the Equinox June 14, 2010. It is a fabulous ship. The staterooms are very nice and comfortable. We had a verandah room on the 7th floor. Very quiet. The ports are wonderful. Istanbul was one of our favorites. The Greek Islands were very nice and just like all the pictures you see. We spent 4 days in Rome prior to the Cruise. This was our third time in Rome and just love the city. It was a wonderful cruise and the staff was one of the best of the 8 cruises I have been on. Would definitely recommend this cruise.

HERE I AM!!! We have done at least four cruises from Barcelona and this October we are doing the Equinox Holyland cruise from Rome. Is there anyway i can help you with Barcelona especially with hotel/guide/driver..

Check out the new Celebrity itinerary.. they are leaving from Istanbul..I think it maybe the wonderful Constellation...Personally after our one experience on Princess i'd take Celebrity any day of the week
