Celebrity Infinity debarkation breakfast

We just got back from a 7 day Infinity cruise (2/5 to 2/12). It was probably the best of the seven cruises we have taken except for the breakfast in the Trellis prior to debarkation. The atmosphere in the Trellis that morning was one of confusion with more than a moderate amount of staff indifference. Upon arriving at the Trellis we were not escorted to the main entrance but were instead directed to a side opening near in the railing. We had to walk past several crowded tables with little space between them. Once at the table we realized that while there were coffee saucers there were no cups. After a few minutes observing many waiters hustling around we were able to get the attention of one who asked us if we wanted coffee. When we pointed out that we had no cups he disappeared. After a few minutes another waiter arrived with coffee and when we pointed out that there were no cups he managed to get some. We also requested some water...unlike previous meals no one had bothered to fill our water glasses. Attempts at getting decaf for one of our group proved useless. Our breakfast orders were not taken for a few more minutes with the food arriving a good ten minutes at least later...much slower than all week. My order had to be sent back twice before it was correct. The maitre d was near the center of the room the entire time and unlike other meals, he made no effort at involving himself. Each time I looked in his direction he seemed to be looking over the heads of everyone, reluctant to make eye contact. The mutual feeling in our group was that since tips had been given out the night before there was no further incentive for good service at the debarkation breakfast.

After more than 30 cruises I have decided that getaway morning is a pain in the behind. It is rush rush rush, and hurry up and wait. They rush you through breakfast only to wait in a crowded lounge. I think that breakfast is often a problem since the crew is very busy and new staff arrive and some get ready to leave. If your only problem was that breakfast the last day you are lucky.

Strangely, I found that the last day's breakfast on the Infinity last Ocober was wonderfully unrushed. Maybe it was just luck of timing, or something. The assistant waiter even made a run to the bar for me to get me a diet coke. Given the confusion and hassle Frank Black noted above, I would have expected a sub-par experience, but was pleasantly surprised. Debarkation was very civilized for our return. Sorry you didn't have the same experience.

I've experienced a little confusion on get off day but nothing like first time poster RockvilleRick only post. Not a nice way to end a cruise.

We were also on this sailing and had a great breakfast experience in the Trellis Restaurant. We were scheduled to leave the ship at 8:30 so we arrived at the dining room about 7:15 and were escorted to a table for 8 which already had 6 seated. Our orders were taken and the food arrived nice & hot without any unusual delay. I guess Rick got a section that wasn't operating with the usual servers. Last day is always different from all the other days because of the need to get ready for the new passengers. I hope your next last breakfast is better! We also thought the cruise was great!

Question--what time did you get to the restaurant? It was scheduled to close at 8:30. If it was close to that time they might have been rushed.

Funny, as I was reading this post I was thinking that I could have written it since I had the same experience. I then realized that it was written by my friend, Rockville Rick. I believe we had breakfast around 8 and it really was not a good experience. Other than that breakfast the cruise was wonderful!!

Rick,

My wife and I were on the same cruise as you and we too found the debarkation breakfast not to be up to the standard for the rest of the cruise. It was like the staff in the Trellis restaurant knew we had already turned in our rating sheets, so they just wanted to be rid of us. Now don't get me wrong, because the rest of the cruise was wonderful and I would cruise on Celebrity again without question. But I agree with you this was a let down after all of the other fine treatment we had.
