Celebrity vs. RCCL??????

I'm trying to decide between Constellation and Serenade for December. We sailed on Mariner last month and it wonderful although I think I'd prefer a little smaller ship. Can anyone speak to the advantages/disadvantages for either? We're mostly interested in kids activities and RELAXING! I know RCCL owns both lines so I'm not sure how similar they are.

Pools? Anyone know if there are kid-friendly pools on either, preferably with a slide? The Mariner pools were 4 ft 7in at their shallowest - way over the heads of my 6 and 7 year olds.

I keep reading about the stellar service on Celebrity - is it over the top at all? I mean, I don't want people constantly attending to me, but it would be nice to not have to search for our drink waiter at dinner!

Any and all comments would be appreciated.

Service on Celebrity is good, quiet, unobtrusive. Food is excellent, and the kids programs are good. It is a quieter atmosphere for the most part. Both lines are good, but you won't get a rock climbing wall on the Constellation like you will on the Serenade. There will be more kids in the kids club on RCI than on Celebrity, and the average age will be a bit higher on Celebrity--not that it is a bunch of old people clogging the passageways with walkers, mind you! I would put it to itinerary and go from there. One nice thing that we saw on the Rhapsody was when cold weather conditions precluded kids swimming in the main pool (which does have a separate 2-3' deep section), they let kids come swim in the indoor pool (normally for 16+). On our Celebrity cruises, they NEVER let kids in the thallasotherapy (indoor) pool. You really can't go wrong with either line. Feel free to email me for specifics.

=yeah RCCL is great and Celebrity prides themselves on being a notch up. Free welcome champage. They escort every passenger to their cabin on arrival. On our Alaska cruise the dining staff was waiting just past security when we got back on the ship in the ports with big urns of free hot chocolate to warm us up. I hear they do something similar in the Caribbean as well. Celebrity's food was definately first rate :thumb

In my opinion RCL is the way to go with children. Celebrity is great but not nearly as kid friendly as Rcl. This is the way That it seems to me. I think RCL is almost as kid friendly as Carnival. The 2 line seem to cater more to families.

My kids have sailed both RCL and Celebrity 6 times each. The kids enjoyed the activities more on RCL, but even they noticed the food and service are better on Celebrity.
My kids are now older teens and are very satisfied on Celebrity. For yours... I would consider RCL but I must say that I am NOT fan of the Mega liners on RCL.

As far as Carnival goes.....no thanks.....

P.S. I have been cruising RCL ships since the 1970's and logged a lot of miles with them.

One Pool on the Mille class is about knee deep and great for kids. All mille classe ships have a great kid facility on the aft also with a small paddle pool. Too small for your guys. I think you shud try it. But I do agree that there will be more of a social life for them on RCL.
