I am very partial to the M-Class ships: Millennium, Summit, Constellation, Infinity...
Of course, I also understand some folks prefer smaller ships--a matter of personal preference I suppose...
Here's a little comparison:
Century ship facts
Occupancy: 1,750
Tonnage: 70,606
Length: 815 feet
Beam: 105 feet
Draught: 25 feet
Cruising Speed: 21.5 knots
Entered Service: December 20, 1995
Millennium ship facts
Occupancy: 1,950
Tonnage: 91,000
Length: 965 feet
Beam: 105 feet
Draught: 26 feet
Cruising Speed: 24 knots
Entered Service: July 1, 2000
Century is five years older (newer ships usually mean things are in better condition)
Millennium is FASTER (Means less time travelling between ports, more time in port)...
But, most importantly, look at the Gross Tonnage to Passenger capacity ratios...this tells you how roomy and uncrowded a ship is--"Gross Tonnage" is a measure of SPACE, and volume, NOT of weight...The Millie is almost 30% LARGER in terms of area than the Century...but only carries 11.4% more passengers!
Century has 40.35 gross tons per passenger, Millenium has 46.67...
What I have found is that, of all the ships sailing for all of the mass-marketed cruise lines, the M-Class has the best gross tonnage -to-passenger and crew -to-passenger ratios...
As to the Sky Suites, we were in two of them (#6122 and our daughters in #6124) on the Summit this past July...Location was excellent (Deck 6 very uncrowded...lots of suites and no inside cabins)...The size of the room was ample and very nice...Butler service was great, but really is overkill--we don't really have that much for the butler to do--of course the girls kept him running, eating breakfast in their cabin... Frankly, if money is no object, they're great...far more comfortable than the ordinary cabin--lots of storage space, etc. But, considering the price differential and the small amount of time we actually spend in the cabin, unless it's a special occasion, we'll save the money and go back to "ordinary" cabins...I've never really had a problem with the service or amenities in one of those...and it leaves more money for the next cruise...
Good luck...
