century vs. millie

Planning a Christmas Caribbean cruise for my family. Never cruised before. I was planning on sailing Millie, but I have seen some really good prices for Century. My worry is that on Millie, I was definitely getting a balcony stateroom, but it looks like on Century there are no balconies except in suites. (1) Does a balcony add a lot to a cruise and (2) will other perks on the Century make up for no balconies?

I was on the Century last year and absolutely loved it. You can go to my review and read all about it. Might help in your decision.

HI EVELYN,
BOTH SHIPS ARE EXCELLENT. HAVING A BALCONY IS A PLUS BUT MANY CRUISERS SAY THEY DID NOT USE IT ENOUGH.
IF YOU ARE TRAVELING WITH YOUR FAMILY AND CRUISING FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THE CENTURY. THE PRICE IS RIGHT AND MOST CRUISERS AGREE THAT CENTURY IS A VERY COMFORTABLE SHIP.
I JUST GLANCED AT PRICES AND FOUND THAT YOU CAN HAVE A SUITE ON CENTURY FOR ABOUT THE SAME MONEY AS A VERANDA ON MILLIE. I WOULD GO WITH CENTURY. ANY WAY YOU DO IT; YOU'LL LOVE EITHER ONE. GOOD LUCK.

It depends on what you like. If you HAVE to have the veranda, then do the Millie. The Century class ships are wonderful. I trust (mechanically) the Century class and the dining is better (not as cramped) on the Century. The Olymic dining room on the Millie is out of this world. Can't go wrong on either. The Millie is newer and has a lot of the new ship features. The Century would probably be less money and it is a wonderful class ship.

IMHO, flip a coin. The other thing is choose the itiniary that you like better. That and price is how I would decide.

I love the Century, sailed her last November eastern Caribbean, and have booke the Western Caribbean for this November. I also have a review in the review section.

As has been said either ship will be a Gr8 experience at sea. U might even be able to get a suite on the Century for the same pricing as a balcony room on the Millie. I personally like the Millie for the Disco and Thallasotherapy Pool. The diningroom on the Century IMO is one of the most beautiful at sea. Either way enjoy your cruise. :thumb

For all the reasons given above, I would also suggest the Century.

We took our entire extended family (5 children, their spouses and our 7&1/2 grandchildren..the "1/2" was a pre-born stowaway!) on the Celebrity. It was, for us, a great choice. It was a little difficult to keep tabs on everyone at times, but it would have far worse on a larger ship such as the Millie. The supervised childrens' progams were superb as was our treatment in the dining room.

Bon voyage!

Cannot comment on the Century as I have not yet had the opporunity top cruise on her. However I did sail on the Millie last year on a 10 day and was very pleased with the ship, its crew and food.

I love a balcony and in my opinion it adds a lot to the enjoyment of a cruise. Especially if you enjoy a breakfast or lunch served in your cabin while at sea. It also affords a great view of the harbors and docking proceedures if you don't feel like going out on the deck to watch.

The decision to have a balcony or not, is very much up to your vision of how you will enjoy the cruise. If you decide on the Century , I doubt that you will be disappointed, but at sometime you need to try a balcony cabin for the comparison.

Either way I know you will love sailing on a Celebrity Ship.

Evelyn:

Have sailed on Century, Infinity, Summit, and Galaxy (Mercury next week.) I've never been disappointed on any of them. We always get a balcony and don't know how we could cruise without it. Century's Sky Suites have the advantage of the Sky deck. Very intimate and scaled down. Century has the most beautiful diningroom of all the ships I've been on.

I might recommend Millenium class if there are kids. The kids areas are more impressive on the newer ships.
