Chankannab at Cozumel

Should we book the day at Chankannab while aboard ship or wait to get off ship at Cozumel, get our own taxi, and have them take us there? If so, how would we get back to ship? Are there taxis at Chankannab too? We would not know how much time we would need at "C" so would not know what time to tell driver to pick us back up. I don't want to get lost or stuck somewhere! We have never cruised before so we are new at everything and do not know what is best. How much money would we actually save?

People have told me we could save money by going to "C" on our own versus signing up to go through the cruise line.

How much time should we expect to spend at "C". We plan to swim with the dolphins. If anyone has info on anything about "C" let me know.

I quess that depends on what it costs to book a ship excursion-we were in Cozumel in Nov and did the trip on our own-we LOVED the park!!!!
When you get off the ship there are plenty of taxis at the end of the pier- I believe the trip was $10 each way per taxi not per person it is only a five minute ride to the park from the pier.-once a tthe park it is $10 each to enter-snorkle gear runs around $7-10 per person-I am not sure about the dolphins as we did not do that.
We only spent about 3 hours here as we wanted to do some shopping as well.We had no trouble getting a taxi back to the ship they were there waiting when we got to the park exit.

If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

Enjoy your trip Wendy

I concur wholeheartedly with the above. Plenty of taxis, and leave when you want and go directly downtown when you want.

Cool - thanks a bunch. I cannot tell you how much this web site has helped me plan - especially people like me who are new to this whole thing.

Definitely take the trip on your own. Very reasonably priced cab and admission to park. Great snorkeling; saw my first baracuda - face to face! People raved about the pina coladas served in the pineapple ($5) but to me, they were no big deal. I LOVE pina coladas and have had much better before! I think they forgot the rum! Anyway, there are lounges available on the beach, shelter from the sun for those in your party wishing so, fresh water outdoor showers to rinse off. Spent about 3 hours there. Cabs lined up waiting to be filled!

Headed back to walk the streets and hit Carlos-n-Charlies! Yikes! Great time. Took my kids (ages 12 & 14) and had snacks, had fun.

Let loose, enjoy yourself!

My husband and I will be first time snorkelers. If we go to Chankannab, will we be left to our own devices? EEK! What would be the best thing for newbies? Thanks!
