UPDATE - NOV. 8

He had a really good weekend. He is doing his physical therapy and even navigating the halls in his wheelchair. I joked that he doesn’t have a driver’s license for a reason and he shouldn’t be driving himself or he’d end up side swiping another patient in the halls J

Charles is anxious to get home but his spirits seem well. I think he sees the orthopedic doctor on Wednesday to see how his leg/bones are healing.

I am so glad to read good news. I'm sorry that he's getting antsy, yet that is a good sign as well. Thank you for the update! Thoughts and prayers continue.

Thanks for the updates Mary Ann. Just hope he can escape soon to his own home. You seem to get so much faster there.

Again, thank you, @ddicts for your prayers and kind comments.

Here's the latest from today from Charles' relatives:

I talked to "Mrs. Charles" – the appointment went good. He has a plate in the leg and has been told he will not be able to put ANY type of pressure on it until mid January. The doctor explained that if ANY pressure was put on the leg the plate/bones would break and the surgery for that is WAY more involved and painful and all. They took the immobilizer off and rewrapped his leg. The stitches will be in for longer than normal (I guess this is typical with the type of surgery he had).

I'm trying to find out how long it will be before Charles can go home. Not being able to put weight on his leg can be an issue.

Hoping he has full mobility by May 29th. To the best of my knowledge, there are no provisions in the by-laws for reduced .... ah, "involvement" .... in the In-Duck-Tion process ....

Which reminds me .... Did Paw ever find his prosthetic leg ????? I thought Security was supposed to return it ....

I had a nice conversation with Charles just now (Nov. 11th). The doctors are pleased with his progress - rods, etc. on the outside of his leg have been removed and "all" that remains is the hardware inside his leg. There are still a lot of ponderables - he's not supposed to put any weight on his injured leg until mid-January, but he thought he heard talk of possibly putting light weight on that leg around Thanksgiving time. OT (Occupational Therapy) has already gone over the usual questions about his house, stairs, bathroom setup, etc. That normally is discussed when there's a light at the end of the tunnel about getting out of rehab and going home. I suggested a couple of things to ask his doctor and the therapists.

Charles is anxious to return home, start work again and read the Boards.

He's very grateful for your prayers, good wishes, cards......

Aha..more info...

now it *MAY be* that PHYSIO can indeed put "light weight" on it for Thanksgiving time..and that is a believable time factor as with our ortho pt's we have at our facility..Yahoo....

as for CHARLES being able to put weight on it for January.
all by his lonesome......with walkers, canes etc etc...that is quite in line too..another Yahoo!!
...I pray he gets no surprises, set backs, infections etc etc..

he and Mrs Charles have our best thoughts and prayers it all goes according to Hoyle!!..hugs on the update...:)..Joanne
