Cheap deal on Century

I'm booking my honeymoon for October 16th or October 17th depending on what ship I pick and it's between the Celebrity Century and the Carribean Princess. My puzzlement is that it's actually cheaper to book a penthouse concierge w/balcony on the Century than to book an obstructed oceanview on the Carribean Princess. I thought that since the Celebrity is supposed to be a better service and better food boat it would be more pricey. Do you think it's a sign that they've cut back on the older boats within the Celebrity line or is it just luck and I should just book it and enjoy?

I would guess that most of the reason has to do with the fact that the Century is an older ship and the Caribbean Princess is a brand new ship. Most lines will price their new ships higher than older ones, knowing they will fill up with passengers who want the 'latest and greatest'.

If it were me and both itineraries are ones I like, I'd take the suite on Century over an obstructed view on any Princess ship. The suite will be bigger, service will be incredible, and I'd lay odds you wouldn't even notice that the ship is older. Besides, you'll be on your honeymoon, so may want to spend more time in your cabin than you would normally. <VBG>

Hilary said about what I would about the pricing. Just a note about the service you get in a suite on Century.......You will have a butler that will help make sure you have everything you want (within reason of course), you get all the extras that are mentioned in the brochure like free espresso and cappuccino delivered to your cabin, not as good as Cova Cafe, but better than regular room service coffee. You get priority check-in and debarkation, free use of the thalassotherapy pool in the spa. The thalassotherapy pool is great, if you weren't in a suite you would have to pay to use it and it would still be worth doing at least once! We enjoyed the butler bringing snacks and tea, well coffee for us every afternoon at 4 pm. If you are looking to relax, you will love the suite. If you want to dance, see a show, have a drink, gamble etc.... you will find it all there on the ship as well.

Out of the 5 Celebrity ships I've sailed, Century is still one of my favoeites. I would book her without reservation.
