We are excited to be taking our first cruise in October. We are taking the six day cruise on the Legend to Bermuda along with our two children. which are 3 and 8. I was hoping some of you would share your experiences with Carnival's childcare program, and any advice you may have.

Thanks for your advice,
Sandie

We sailed in Feb. 2002 with our (at the time) 8 yr. old son. He went to Camp Carnival the first full day and stayed only about 45 mins. His problem with it was that he was grouped in with 6-8 yr. olds and felt that all the stuff was too "childish". There were far more 6 & 7 yr. olds. I asked the counselor if he could be bumped up to the 9-12 age category, but she said that was not allowed. Even without Camp Carnival, our son had the best time of his life. He went down the pool slide continuously, ate loads of pizza and soft serve ice cream, and enjoyed being treated special each night in the dining room. He made some friends on board all his age. None of them went to Camp Carnival. We are looking into cruising again later this year and possibly now that he is 9 and will be in the 9-12 age bracket he will think the activities are "cooler". Either way, he will once again have a blast I am sure. Your 3 yr. old will more than likely enjoy the camp and all the activities it provides for that age group.

Have a grand time on your cruise - you and your children will definetly enjoy it !

Although we didn't have a child or grandchild with us on the Conquest in February, we did notice that they reserved a section of seats in the show lounge for the Camp Carnival kids. We were pleased to see it was for the kids because at first we thought it was reserved for a group of travel agents that apparently were onboard with us.

Thank you for your input into Camp Carnival. We are looking forward to the cruise and hopefully the children will love the adventure too. It is a marvelous idea to have activities for children so the parents can have some time together. A family vacation with a little time for romance is a winning combination!

Thanks again,
Sandie

We have just booked our third cruise for this summer. It will be my ten year old's third cruise. The first one was when she was five (the big red boat) and her second when she was seven (Carnival Paradise.) She thinks the kids' programs are the best things ever invented! She didn't want to be with us much at all! We did insist she go on shore with us! She made many new acquaintances that were much more fun to be with than us old parents, but we did get to spend a lot of quality time with her (and some time as a couple as well.) I think that a cruise is the best vacation for kids, as long as your kids are okay being separated from you. Happy cruising-once you start you will never want to do anything else! lisa
