Ok guys...here it is! Key west is the best place for this treat. I've had this a few times..in one afternoon I might add. Key West is known for it's key lime pie and it's the only place that I've had it. We had it each time we've been there. There is a place called the Key Lime Pie factory (right off Duval street I think) that has the best. They also sell everything key lime. Try the key lime coolers (cookies) to die for. Enjoy!

Yes we've tried it. It's awesome! Try a place called the Blonde Girrafe. They serve a piece of chocolate dipped key lime pie on a stick. I don't know the address for any of these places, been there too may times, only know them by sight, but I'm sure that you can find the Blonde Giraffe on the internet, or ask a local, they'll know!

Other tips:

Perhap the best bread I have ever tasted comes from a small backery named Cole's Peace! Again you are going to have to surf or ask a local.

Best we restaurant we've found - the Half Shell Raw Bar - try their Paella and Conch fritter! Yum!

Make sure that you hit the Kinos sandal shop! This shop I know is in an alleyway off of Greene Street. Small shop that makes all leather sandals and flip flops (lots of styles and colors) Last time I was there, I bought 12 pairs, for a women average price $8.00, men $10.00; don't hold me to the prices, they might have gone up some. Outside of work that's all we wear! I have had a pair that I bought in '95; they have been through sand, saltwater, and Fla. sun, and are still going strong! Best investment you'll ever make!

Lastly, make sure to catch the sunset on Mallory Square. Simply Beautiful! Also there are performers and vendors on the pier to entertain you til the sunset.

Hope this helped a little! I've read some reviews of Key West, where people hated the port, but having spent a decent amount of time there, I can say they are only seeing the t-shirt shops and bars (trust me there are lots of both!). Judging by your count down you stil have lots of time, bump around on the net, and look for something different. Skip over the tourist traps like Sloppy Joe's (though nice to experience once), you'll find alot of history and culture that is unique to Key West - that's what your looking for! None of our cruises have ever stopped at Key West, but we would love it if they did, we never get tired of it! Also, don't be afraid to go off the beaten path, Key West is very safe! Everyone is VERY laid back and happy, I would be too if I lived in paradise.

I had one last week (Friday to be exact) the name of the place that I had mine was at a place called the Blonde Giraffe (it about 5 short block down Duval street, I walked it in about 10-15 minutes). It a V shaped slice of Key Lime pie on a popsicle stick that is dipped in chocolate.

Couple of years ago, a friend and I were at Key West, and I was determined, that since I was in Key West, I would have my KEY LIME PIE whilst there. I wanted it so badly, because it sounded so great. Well, we ate at Jimmy Buffet's, and then we were too stuffed to eat dessert, but I HAD to have that pie! I figured the solution was to have one of the chocolate covered ones on a stick....that way, I could take it with me, and eat it at my leasure. WRONG! I was too slow eating it, and while shopping, I asked my friend to hold it for me, while I tried on a hat, and PLOP...there went my pie to the ground. It wasn't her fault, that I only got a couple of delicous bites! It was good, but....next time, I'm just going to get the regular pie on a plate type...LOL. (Hey Rose, when are we sailing to Key West, so that you can treat me to that pie!!!!! I'm ready to go...anytime!) Actually...I'm ready for any cruise...right now....Pat N

Also, Kermit's Key Lime Shoppe has this WONDERFUL treat. My hubby, who does not normally care for Key Lime Pie fell in love with it.
