Choosing the best deck

Going on the Conquest and we have a chance to choose our balcony room on any deck - of course, the higher you go the higher the category. Which deck do you think is the best?
I've been on 6, 7 and 8 - should I go for 9 or 10?
Travel agent says most people making a choice prefer 7.
If the cabin is the same otherwise...is there any advantage to being on one deck vs another?

Hello Aprilivy,

The actual height of the deck offers little to the cabin. What you have to look for is what is above or below your cabin. You have to study the deck plans and choose a cabin that is not directly above, below or next to places like the disco, or the show lounge, or anything that would be noisy.

Some people say to avoid the elevators. We've found that, although the elevators themselves don't seem to be bother us, all the people getting on and off, tend to talk loudly.

Being surrounded, above and below, by cabins usually is a nice quiet spot, which is why deck seven on the Conquest proves to be so popular. Decks six and eight are totally cabins.

You might want to take note of what is easily accessed from your nearest elevator. I always am glad to find that our nearest elevator opens close to the dining room door. You may not know which dining room is yours, but you know neither of them is near the bow.

Being on those two upper decks you will necessarily be near the bow, as the rest of those two decks are mostly pool area and lido restaurant. Running back to your cabin, while at the pool might be easier. But probably not any simpler than stepping on those id ship elevators and stepping out, just a few cabins away from your deck seven misd ship cabin.

So there's my advice. If it were me, I'd pick something on deck seven, just a few doors down from the mid-ship elevators.

The only other thing to take note of is whether or not the verandahs on your deck are covered or open to view from above. You can't really tell that from the deck plans. They don't look it, but if those verandahs are tiered, they could be.

You really need to look through the gallery to find photos of your ship, to see that. OR ask for if anyone has personal experience with this ship.

the empress deck is between decks of cabin space and away from public areas. Being under the lido deck you stand a chance of hearing chairs scraping. (under the pizza kitchen you will hear carts rolling- utensils being dropped.)

you want to avoid being under the gym area-- especially where the weight station is-- gym opens sometimes at 6am and people tend to drop those weights.

I have to go with deck 7 too. I've been on the Glory and Valor and both times we chose balcony cabins on deck 7. We booked our cabin midship and really tried to stay away from the elevators. I made sure that our cabin was surrounded by other cabins. We've been really happy with this location and it's not far from anything since you're right in the middle and only have to go up or down a couple decks when going places.

Something else to consider when looking to book a cabin on the Fantasy or destiny class ships--- look to see what your cabin is next to.
There are lots of cabins for two people but on either side of those cabins are ones that hold 4 people.. and this class of ship can accomadate rollaways-- so those cabins could be holding whole families
