Just wondering if any @ddicts sailed on a Holiday/Christmas cruise aboard a Holland America ship (in addition to Sail 7 Seas, of course ), and how you enjoyed it?
We were on the Rotterdam for Xmas and New Years and had a wonderful time. The ship was dressed up in all of its finery with a differently decorated tree in all public rooms and hallways. They are decorated by a private company as we talked to the staff on the last day as they were dismantling them. Santa Claus arrived on Xmas afternoon for the children and each child received a gift. Egg nog flowed freely on Xmas morning and champagne flowed freely on New years eve. The New Years party in the Crows Nest went on until 5.am!! If you are thinking of cruising the holidays, you will definitely enjoy it.....jean
Jean....sounds like our experience aboard for Christmas mirrored yours.
We also enjoyed listening to the Crew Choir sing carols just before Midnight on Christmas Eve. Following their presentation, there was a fabulous buffet set out in the Atrium (beginning at the Ocean Bar and winding almost all the way around the railing). We have never seen them use this space in that way and it set up wonderfully. When we exited the show lounge, the ice carvings and wonderful desserts and serving trays filled with goodies, were so festive and somehow we all found an appetite to do it justice.
We also enjoyed champage compliments of the Captain and Hotel Manager in the Dining Room on Christmas Eve. Christmas dinner was wonderful and the huge tree set into the center section on the lower level reached high enough (approaching the ceiling of the upper level) so that all in the dining room could enjoy the beautiful decorations...very elegantly adorned.
We have cruised over Christmas before and would gladly go again.
We have sailed over the last two Christmases - first on RCL's Monarch and then on NCL's Sea. Monarch was veryfestive, wonderfully decorated and the Sea was understated to say the least. We are going on Zaandam this Christmas and based on your posts are looking forward to it.
I didn't sail over Christmas just up till the 23rd of December I think it was. The Zaandam was decorated out to the nines. All the Suite doors were decorated, lots of Christmas music, can't speak for Christmas itself, but, we were certainly in the mood.
