Christmas Cruising Questions ~ Lots of questions

Our first cruise is coming up. I'm so excited!
We will be cruising the week before Christmas on the Legend
and getting back into port on the 23 of December.
I have been told that the ship will be decorated for Christmas.
If you've been on a Christmas/Christmas-y cruise I have questions for you.

Are there special Christmas activities aboard ship?

Should I bring wrapped gifts for staff or is my tip enough?

Are formal nights a little more formal? ...I have a full length sequin gown.
Will that be okay? Or will I look like the newbie redneck cruiser that I am?

Should my husband have a tux? I think I read that one can be rented on board?
Are they as nice as ones I can get at home? Is the price comparable?

And off the Christmas subject.....

Do I have to wait until I board the ship to know what activies are going on on board that week?

Can I prebook a spa treatment even before I board?

We have a catagory 11 room. It was a little more money than we wanted to spend,
but we wanted to have plenty of room.
My sister keeps saying that I will get my laundry done for free.
I can't see where it says that anywhere.
Please tell me she's right!! :lol

Thanks in advance!

...decorations/special show/special meal/a visit from Santa usually occurs
...tip is more than enough
...what you both plan to wear is fine. if you chooose to rent a tux for husband, cost $85. i've rented ccl tuxes twice...no problem
...you have to wait 'til you're on ship to book spa appointments
...free laundry is for Platinum [10+ Carnival cruise] members only. you'll get priority embarkation, tho

Just my 2 cents......please keep in mind that the crew quarters are extremely small. They do not have the room in their cabin to keep/store gifts.

I am arsuming that you want to bring a wrapped gift, since it is Christmas. Besides what I mentioned above, are you sure that the crew celebrates Christmas?

If you want to tip additional, as appreciation for their excellent service or because you want them to share in your religious practices, then IMO cash or phone card would be the best route.

In regards to your formal attire question, what you want to wear will be fine. You are adhering to the suggested dress code for the evening. Who cares if you look like a newbie redneck cruiser :lol

Every other year do a Christmas cruise, this is our year. Busiest the day at the port in Florida for boarding so be patient. They Christams carols in the artium with the Captain. Midnight Christmas Eve services, etc.
Remember some of the ports you will be going to will have shops closed. Less taxis etc.

Have fun[

Our family took a christmas cruise two years ago.
Decorations: the ship did have some chrristmas decorations, imo it wasnt enough! and while we were on the ship christmas day, i nor any of my four children ever saw a 'santa". if you want a "gift" for the staff, put extra $$$ in a pretty red or green envelope. your sequin gown will be very appropriate so enjoy wearing it!!! re: prebooking spa treatments - dont think thats possible, but book it when you get on the ship- you will have time; also if you want your hair fixed formal night - book that asap THOSE slots fill up quick!! have fun!!!
