Hi there,
Am going on my first cruise on Sept. 3, and it is to Alaska, I have read some threads, but most of them talk about May-August for weather, and clothes to bring on the trip. Could someone give me an idea of what the weather is like, and if it is useless to bring shorts or a swimsuit that time of the year? Any help would be appreciated. We will be on the Norwegian Spirit.
Thanks a bunch

Shorts do not take up that much room nor does the suit: throw them in, you may be able to use them. The layered approach is the big thing to keep in mind. As the day goes on the weather can really warm up and when on land it will be quite a bit warmer than at sea. Hope this helps just a little.

It depends on which ship you are on as to using the pool. Not all pools are heated, and there is a reason Alaska is not known for its beaches. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Norwegian Spirit. The weather in Alaska varies from warm during the day and cool at night to rainy and cool during the day and cold at night. So the layered approach is a good idea (as noted above). A wind breaker is also a good idea. Depending on the mosquitoes you might not want to wear shorts (pants or shirts). If the mosquitoes are around, you can not miss them, they are about half the size of an eagle.
