Where are the best snorkeling spots in Nassau and Cocoacay...I've heard the plane wreck in COCOA is good...how do we find it. We'd like to go on our own vs. a tour....so we can avoid swimming in such a large crowd.

THANKS

In Nassau, take a bus across the street from the straw market to Cable Beach. Public beach, no facilities, but good snorkling on the reef. Nice sand. A few free lounges

Coco Cay is a private cruise island, so they'll give you directions on the area different things of interest are in the water, even if you're bringing your own equipment. Most people do just go out on their own on this island, since they have lifeguards posted in the water!

Happy cruising!

Coco Cay had the best snorkeling in my opinion. Although the water was a little rough on that day. They do let you go at your own pace and you do not have to swim with a group. You rent the snorkel equipment and keep it all day, therefore, you can take breaks as you please. I would like to do something different in Nassau (been there four times). Any suggestions???

Thanks

Rhonda,

Just noticed we'll be taking the same cruise on the SOS. If you find something to do in Nassau that is different, let me know.

My sister did a cruise last year and booked an independant excursion and said it was the best thing she's ever done on any cruise. It was called Captain Francis in St. Croix. It was a private sailing to Buck Island. It included free drinks and the best snorkeling she's ever done. He took just the four of them for $60 each and lasted 1/2 day. That would be a great find in Nassau if they have a similar excursion.
