Concierge Class. Is it worth it?

We are thinking of a 2 week cruise to the Caribbean on Zenith in November 2006. (Yes, we do plan far ahead!)
Is it worth having a Concierge Class cabin. The difference from the outside cabin is about £100 or $180 for the 2 weeks.
The list of benefits sound nice, but I am not sure if they are worth that much.

Hello Cinnamon:my name is michael and i am sailing november 10,2005 on the constellation to the caribbean for 10 days.your ship the zenith does not have balconies.our ship is much newer.we did also take the concierge class accomodations.however my room is much larger than the room without the butler service.the balcony is also much larger.yes i think it is very well worth the money to have the butler service.we get flowers everyday, alot of amenities far more than you can imagine.i also paid very cheap for this cruise at the beginning.now the price has doubled and i have saved thousands of dollars here.the only way to cruise is the very best.go for the concierge service okay.please let me know if you need more help okay.michael

Cinnamon,

There is no absolute answer to your question. What is well worth it for some people would be an absolute waste of money for others. This reminds me of the never-ending value questions about balcony staterooms, or suites versus non-suites, or specialty restaurants versus the regular restaurant.

Personally, being welcomed to your cruise with a chilled bottle of champagne is a good start in my book. Then, having a much enhanced breakfast room service menu, evening canapes every day, fresh flowers and fruit in your stateroom, and many other nice touches are all extras that make the cruise more enjoyable. I do not know of anyone who has chosen a CC stateroom who was later disappointed by it, but I do know many like Michael who thought it was a fabulous touch of class and worth the money.

Enjoy your cruise regardless of what you decide.

Thanks for your replies, Ted and MIchael. We have not decided whether to take the cruise yet. Will wait until after our next one on 1st July.

Hi

We have just returned from our cruise on the Galaxy from Rome, Concierge Class. I will never be cruising with Celebrity again. The food was very disappointing compared to RC. As for Concierge Class it has to be the biggest waste of money you will ever spend. The cabins are small, the balconies even smaller and the balcony doors open outwards so you had to be very careful you didnt knock somebody overboard! The biscuits for the canapes were always stale and it didnt make much difference that there was more choice for breakfast in your cabin as we never got what we ordered anyway! The Galaxy is a tired ship. I shall stick to RC and am very much looking forward to Jewel of the Seas in August. I have to say that on the Galaxy we met the most wonderful group of people and the Ports were good but as for the ship well lets just say 'scrapyard'.

We are doing cc on two Mercury cruises coming up. It's worth it for that ship because otherwise no balcony cabin. We will also get two credits for Cap Club. On other ships I would hesitate because you can get a nice balcony cabin on a lower deck & it is more costly.....While last poster prefers Royal--we just were on Brilliance & although we liked it quite a bit (surprisingly good to excellent food) we felt the Celeb experience is much finer--less tacky stuff & less children for sure! Guess it's personal taste & we cruise both for variety of ships & itins....

Corinne,
We are on the MOSAIC cruise with you iin October. We think Concierge Class is the way to go. The little extras really add to the enjoyment of the cruise. As TedD said, being welcomed with a bottle of champagne really gets the cruise started right.

Like you, we plan ahead and have already booked a cruise for December 2006 on the Zenith. We're trying to put a group together to get some amenities from the travel agent and from Celebrity. If you email me privately, I'll send you the link to the information and answer any questions you might have.

lucky123, I 'm sorry to be the one to tell you that concierge class accomodations do not include the butler.

Cinnamon, although you won't have a large cabin, balcony or butler service the amenities are nice for an extra $6.50 per day. That being said, I highly recommend you look at other newer ships with larger staterooms and balconies. M class would be best.
